Ground Launching

After several year organizing swoop competitions and among other things, getting canopy piloting accepted into the IPC World Cup in 2003. I was on the lookout for a new and exciting way to bring swooping to the masses. It has become apparent to me that as appealing as swooping can be, our sport can be its own worst enemy. Our sport needs to be cheaper, easier to participate and easier to learn. Our sport needs greater market appeal to attract corporate sponsors that want to leverage their brand with our sport. It all starts by making it easier for everyone to get involved with the least amount of investment. In other extreme sports kids of all ages can watch events like the “X games” and get all fired up about it, buy a skateboard and give it a go. These kids might not pull off a 900 on a skateboard or bust a back flip but they can give it a go rather easy.
