My only cutaway was after pitching at 1000' into about half of the suspension lines broken, so cut at about 700-800 (1993 - I was much dumber then).
No RSL...when all was said and done, about 8 second reserve ride. Everyone else on the load swore I went in. It was also a night water jump...I closed my eyes and pissed my pants. (Kidding, actually the ground rush was awesome at that speed)

So a cut a way at 1000f with no rsl? ok nice but what is the leasson behind that ? if i have the Courage or just stupid enough to do this? If i can handel the preasure ? or just that i have to spend 100 bugs to get my reserve packt again?
I donīt know why there is a problem ? You all started some time ago with BASE. Some with more jumps so with less. And i think some of you had the same expeirience that some guys told them you have not enough jumps, no expierience, you have no clue what BASE is about, get lost and so on. right ? why you are doing the same shit now ? I wouldnīt go for BASE if i wonīt think i can do it. i donīt want to die !!! very impotant. i want to explore my limits if i can do it. iīm not one of this "i can do everything, i donīt careī" guys. If iīm going to do it than save. i have learnd fast and a lot during my jumps. i know there is a lot more to learn. but i think i can do slow steps into base, i donīt want to jump tomorrow. First the safety stuff and how to pack ... and then when iīm ready the first jump. So please guys donīt treat me like iīm stupid, you all made the step into base some time ago and you all would liked a helping hand. So donīt make the entrance so hard i will do it anyway. So you could help me to do it more save or keep on talking bull. THX for your attencion.... and sorry for my english writing

As well as spending the time gaining more jumps, it is certainly beneficial to gain more exposure to parachute sports in general as it will help you gain a better appreciation of what you are looking to get into (watching people femur in, or having friends die skydiving during these years will go toward your parachuting personality)
I know people band around the 150 jumps as the magic number, but I honestly think that it more sensible to look toward around 500 with CReW and accuracy experience thrown in. Obviously this all depends on the skills and preparation of each individual, but my experience was I had near 600 jumps, a bunch of CReW and Accuracy, and I still felt that I could have done more preparation for some of the landing areas and canopy time I ended up in. In the end, I think the more jumps and more exposure you have to parachute sports the better..... others will disagree.

I've made twenty seven jumps with the specific intention of base jumping eventually had line twists and slider malfunctions so far, I'm here for the same answers how do I know that I am ready for base do I just do it? do I wait for a mentor? do I seek a mentor out at the risk of being an annoying bastard? what is the consensus i've had a few friends who have made base jumps with friends and are way less experienced to me that is scary but isn't that tha name of tha game? isn't tha point that when you step off its all about you... Am I off? uspa don't regulate it so when do I have enough experience? I'm gonna try tha 1k cutaway soon when it starts ta feel right. its an extra fifty bucks for that pack job so when my meager pitence of a salary can cov er it i'm all about it... i'm gonna make a few more jumps though!

what makes you worried to cutaway at 1000' and at the same time you're wondering if you're ready to jump 300' objects?
I used to cutaway every 120 days; why waste the packjob? -
