A basejumper has died after leaping off the top of a waterfall in north Queensland.

Police said they received a call that a man had died after attempting a base jump from Wallaman Falls, near Ingham.

Wallaman Falls is the largest single drop waterfall in Australia, tumbling 305 metres through the Wet Tropics World Heritage area.

Attempts are being made to recover the man's body.

Second incident

Meanwhile rescue workers are also trying to rescue a man from a mountain in south-east Queensland after another apparent basejumping accident.

A 21-year-old became trapped on the western side of Sugarloaf Mountain, near Boonah, amid windy conditions.
