What is a GB# (Unveiled)

After several inquiries about the GB #, I feel compelled to unveil the origin of the "Gay Base" numbers:

We in the BASE community consider ourselves to be fearless death cheaters often represented by skulls and crossbones on our gear or clothing, team names like "Body Bag" and "Ill Vision", and a reputation that perpetuates an image of macho intensity rivaled by few... but after being in the sport for a few years now I have definitely noticed a side that is seldom documented but worth taking notice of. This side of BASE includes: a group hugging & jumping up and down together after a flick, comparing battle scars with your peers drunk in a pool, discussions on the best body hair removal cremes while waiting for others to pack, color coordinating outfits to canopy for a load or photo op., flicks in drag, etc. Many of these moments I have captured on video and I like to call them "Gay moments in BASE" but this is not recognition enough. Sometimes a moment is so off the scale and so outrageously Gay an award must be given... and this is how the prestigious Gay BASE#s came to be.

Our example: When four individuals (all male) were so amp-ed up after a death defying 4-way off the Eiger, in which three of the four narrowly cleared the 8 sec lip by a few feet, they decided to strip off ALL their clothes and run, skip, and jump up and down in the luminescent green fields below the Eiger as celebration of their quest... as well as pose for pictures together (nude) mocking the Eiger. It was at this moment it was determined that some official declaration had to be created and awarded for this type of BASE behavior.

When some moment in BASE is so exceedingly "gay", a Gay BASE Number must be issued to insure the appropriate level of credit is given to those who take part in some of the "gayest" moments in BASE. I am working with Rick & Joy Harrison on the official documentation complete with bright pink and yellow cards with rainbows in the corner and the name and Gay BASE number embossed with corn flower blue glitter in the center.

The proud recipients of GB #2 - #4 may wish to remain anonymous but I encourage my Gay BASE Brethren to drop their vales of masculinity and come frolic in the fields of their gayness... and to the rest of the BASE community, be aware because there are Gay moments in BASE all around us...and you too could be the next proud recipient of a "Gay BASE number."

Donk, there are many forums on which to post your sexuality. There is also a BASEbonk number you can get. As far as I know, there is no distinction made on the type of sex. Consider announcing your sexuality on your profile. Maybe (i haven´t tried the search) ask Mick to set up a sexuality orientated inner site to where GBrs can meet and propagate thru the key searchword "Gay".
I hug my commrades, Why do you imply this is Gay? wow, I must be latent. I now ask you "What does sexuality have to do with BASE?". All are equal in the attraction of gravity IMHO. Am I wrong?
Should we go to the extreme and say "Hi, I am Donk, I am a BASE jumping Gay." or change the priortization to "Hi, I am Donk, a Gay who BASE jumps."? Where have you been Donk? there is NO hetero/homosexuality, only sexuality. I disagree with the content of your post for this forum(I disagree with the content of mine also). I feel it was more an announcement of your sexuality, akin to shouting out from a high place (yes, this is a high place thanks to Mick) to the world. Why not ask Rick to make a distinction in the BASEbonk numbers for sexuality, orgasm on the exitpoint prior to jumping with a member of the same sex would qualify one for the category. Then we could also have the Hetero/Gay BASE chicken number, where you chickened out on the jump after, or howabout Hetero/Gay BASE impotence award, how one couldn´t get it up when one was up but then jumped. What is your point? Rick is not the proper one to ask. Jean is.I don´t feel I am homophobic, but there is a place for everything, and I feel you have posted in the wrong forum.

Actually, I think the original post is pretty funny. Especially since some well-known jumpers have recently been spotted jumping "gay pride" canopy/container combos with literally every color of the rainbow included therein. Let your freak flag fly! Oh, wait. . . I think that for them it's just a really bad case of fashion incompetence - sorry DW.

Of course, everyone knows the Aussies are the biggest closet cases in BASE :D Can we have "closet BASE" for them?

BASE is too serious not to joke about; ditto sexuality.

Just a little history here......

For the record, after the four "unnamed" Eiger jumpers landed in the green fields below the mammoth mountain, one of them had previously planned to romp around naked in celebration of a successful jump and to reciprocate the nakedness with all the wives and girlfriends who had bared their beautiful chests just days before. That one, brave person began to disrobe when others became perplexed at the idea of an Eiger meadow frolic. Before he knew it, GB#1 was naked as a jaybird and frolicking through the fields.

Then the GB Gods decided this was way TOO gay with only two naked grown men, so the other two joined in and then there were four. Then it became LESS gay and everyone frolicked.

All the wives and girlfriends of the four GB members took photos and video. The ladies really seemed to enjoy themselves. :P

It was all in fun. Heck, they just jumped the Eiger and about died........at least that's the story "I" heard.

I bet it'll be an international hit when the black market of BASE video distribution gets that clip into the hands of the ABA folks! Wait. . . I think I've already seen vid of Feral prancing about with no clothes on after a jump. Oh, that was just 'cause he lit his pants on fire with his matches, trying to freebase with aluminum foil.

There's that old saying in the gay community: there's the gay, there's REALLY gay. . . and then there is "BASE gay." ;-)
