If anyone has any information on the wall strike resulting in multiple broken bones at my (currently legal) favorite cliff in AZ, please post all the news. Thanks.

Yes, I go to do a quiet (legal for now) BASE jump and there's a canopy stuck in the cliff. I hear rumors that a group was over from out of town doing many jumps over many days. There was an accident and there was multiple broken bones, a technical rescue that involved multiple helicopters, many Sherriffs, multiple media crews, etc. I wish the injured party the speediest of recoveries but please say that it didn't happen. Please not in my(our) quiet little piece of heaven. What happened?

Just a quick note for now to say that the person who had the wall strike was hospitalized briefly and has since been discharged with much discomfort and bruised spirit but alive and kicking considering the events he endured which i'm sure he will be happy to share with you personally as soon as he returns to the east coast and his computer. I will say that others present during those events and subsequent rescue efforts...yes...by helicopter from the cliff face...were pleased to say that all law enforcement and EMS personel were friendly and supportive and there was no mention of wrong doing or legal action. They treated the involved jumpers with the respect deserved by anyone involved in any extreme sport and expressed that respect. Kuddos to all involved!

I'm happy and relieved to hear that the involved jumper was not seriously hurt in the accident at our favorite site. I'm also happy to hear that our local rescue personnel treated you with respect. I was just wondering, who's going to pay for that rescue? Can I come to your favorite site and do the same thing that you've done here? Please don't come back.

Well Mr Arizona....while I was not one of the jumpers at YOUR site when that accident occured I feel compelled to ask you who the hell said it's YOUR's. No one has DONE anything besides have an unfortunate accident which god forbid should happen to you someday. And I sure hope you don't do it in someone else's neck of the woods. Lest they tell you never to come back. I'm sure you never take trips to other parts of the country to share jumps with others in their favorite spots right? Your arrogance is an embarrassment. Aren't BASE jumpers all in this together? Fighting for one cause and all in support of one another? Back off. You're not the almighty keeper of Arizona's cliffs.

I just came back from a New Years trip to Texas. It has been far too cold and nasty hear in Minnesota lately to climb towers (although I have been considering it anyhow) and the building we have been relying on for altitude is a little 'warm' right now. So, if it wasn't for "someone else's neck of the woods", I wouldn't have a place to flick. Thanks Texas BASE jumpers!

If any jumpers ever come into my neck of the woods I should hope they feel the right to jump responsibly from anything they want and I would be more than happy to play tour guide.

    Go BASE!

ERjumper your right, I have been hurt on a jump while traveling and it really sucks. Please excuse my past post. Nick really summed it up as he always does, and that over time it will all just be forgotten and we can just go back to the way that it was. Blue skies, low winds.

It was me who got in to a fight with the cliff. Lessons learned. 1. Hand held video cams are not for low knarly objects. 2. Rocks are hard. 3. I'm very lucky to have mostly just a bunch of bruises, and a crack in my scapula. 4. Climbing onto a hovering helicopter strut is very excting.

    Hey Tree,
Glad to hear you're up and about and back in the flow even though you're most decidedly moving slower than usual. While you've arrived back east i'm lovin' it on the west "Best" Coast. Stuck in LA for the week with my computer in my new place in Phoenix so i'm without your email addie. Could you chunk it out to me? Don't worry...you'll be up and falling again in no time. Trees have an amazing recovery ability...even with injured limbs.
