Imagine if you will... Leaking water hoses on top for the winter make 1000' ice climbs. Wind transparent tower for BASE all summer. The best of both worlds with ice cliffing in the winter!! I'm all over it!
I wouldn't think they could make it free standing after it's design for use around an existing structure but maybe they will only put 3 guys instead of 4.
The Washington Monument is 555'.
Did they purchase 1000' of scaffolding?
Do you realize how many Mexicans it would take to put 1000' of scaffolding together? The crane service alone would break the bank.
Ahhh pipe dreams.(But thats a whole other craft.)
I've read that it is the largest _free-standing_ scaffold in the world, implying that it is not braced off the monument itself, and as such it shouldn't require any guy wires in its new location.
And wouldn't it be a beautiful world if all the Mexicans scrambling over that scaffold could be confident in their safety because of a single-parachute harness and container system on their backs.
