    Hi everyone.

I just wanted to share this with you:

Two days ago I jumped a tower, and by that reached the following three milestones:

    1) 40th jump
    2) 1:30 minutes of freefall
    3) And most important: I achieved all 4 objects
    with a prosthetic arm.

So, Joy, I'm formally applying for Amputee BASE #1 :-) (Unless you can come up with a better name...)

It's great to still be jumping. And thank you everyone for the great support I got at Bridgeday. Donna, I didn't forget you, I'm working on what I promised.

    Inbar.

    Inbar,

Way to go! Lately, since some A-hole pulled my reserve handle while I was head down, I have been wondering how a guy who lost an arm would continue jumping. As a result of my head down reserve deplyment, I had my left arm ripped out of the socket and suffered a lot of nerve damage to my shoulder. The aciddent happened at Quincy this year. For the first 2.5 months I couldn't move my arm at all because the nerve was torn and all the muscles around my shoulder withered away to nothing. I was pretty concerned that the condition would be permanent since my doctors warned me that it very well could be. In the last month or so I have been healing up well. My nerve seams to be working again as I am regaining strength in my shoulder.

I am super pumped because tomorrow morning I am planning on jumping from one of my regular sites, an 1100' tower. This will be my first jump since the accident. For a while there I was wondering if I was going to have to give up jumping all together, which happens to be my only source of income.

It's good to know that there are those who are more physically handicapped than I am that are out there flickin' away. I hope you keep it up and I hope I get to jump with you sometime.

    Hey base598.

Like someone told me this BD as we were headed towards a the-day-before jump, where there's a will there's a way.

I lost my arm Feb 24th '99. By Sep 29th I was jumping off a palne testing my performance, and at Oct 16th I was already at Bridge Day.

I have a short elbow stump, so I had to design a special prosthetic arm that will suit my needs. Having done that, I immediately went back to skydiving and base-ing.

However, I do recommend that you do not BASE until you are absolutely positive you have a solution for all scenarios, ESPECIALLY MALFUNCTIONS. Visualize your off-headings, line twists, line overs etc. Get a hook knife, go PCA if you have to, but don't take unnecessary risks. It's only a matter of time before you jump again, and better late than never.

Also, be prepared to climb down, even if your friends flick it. I am lucky to be still jumping, so I don't push the limit too far. Unless I'm positive I can handle it, I don't jump it (rule of thumb).

Good luck, I'll be in the States prior to next Bd, and maybe even earlier. Maybe we can jump together. I'd like that.

    Inbar.

    Inbar,
Just incase you were wonderin, the jump went well. No issues with the arm. The 100 foot climb couldn't stop me. It's good to be back.

Great to hear everything went well!

If there's ANYONE who knows what getting back to jumping is, it's me :-)

    Have fun,

Congratulations Inbar. I'm on Joy's log in and she also says congrats. While we don't keep amputee numbers, Joy and I will unofficially log you in as BASE Amputee #1. I really respect you and we both remember the letter we got from your BASE buddies when you were injured. Great to know you're going strong, so keep it up and Pay Attention to Detail.
