A friend of mine who witnessed it called today and said that the jumper had a few fractures and torn ligiments. Nothing life threatening or permanent from what he said. As I remember: fractured knee?, eye socket, torn elbow and knee.
This info may not be exactly right, but it's what I remember from the conversation.
On Friday morning at about 0730, Mike exited Tombstone, took a short delay, had about a 170 at the wall, struck it twice, landed about halfway down the talus and tumbled to the road. After I got down, we loaded him in the jeep and took him to the hospital at Moab. They transferred him to St. Mary's in Grand Junction, CO. He is doing very well. He has several fractures that are easily repairable, and should heal relatively quickly. He was wearing a bonehead helmet and knee pads. I'm sure he would love to hear from you. On the up side, that was his earth and completes BASE for him.

Hey Mike,
Really glad to hear you'll be OK.
Hard way to complete your BASE; hope you get a lucky number!
Whatever it is, we think you should play it on the lottery right away.
Wishing you a speedy recovery,
and hope to see you again soon,
janet & fred
Thanks for the info Jerrod. I spoke with both Mike and Gretchen at the hospital a couple hours ago. I'm very thankful that his injuries are "fixable." :) Personal thanks for being Johnny on the spot and getting him to a hospital so quickly. He's a good friend to alot of us at the Hills and I'm thankful to you for being there.
peace...arlo
A speedy recovery to Mike and props out to Jerrod et al. Jerrod actually helped salvage me from 70 vertical feet of trees about 2 months ago. This after overcompensating for strong winds on a big antennae jump. We should all jump with jumpers who look out for each other and be jumpers who take care of one another.
Mike,
Bridget and I wish you a speedy recovery. Hang in there...things will work out! Drop me an e-mail when you are able ...take care.m246mooman@aol.com
