What type of video set-up are base jumpers using ? I do not want to sink alot of money into it.
Top mount or side mount ? I was thinking maybe
one of those protecs with alum. plate bolted on,
and make a fiberglass box. pc5 or pc9 ? Maybe
trv17. Would like to know what everybody is using. Any feedback would be greatly
    appreciated.

Go for a bonehead they do cost a bit but chose the right one and it will last you for years light strong and you can mount the camera anywhere.
The camera go for a Pc5/9 they have some diferences i have a top mounted paniconic peice of sh!t and wouldn't recomend one to some i hate.it is safe but i think my head is going to come off the openings kill me but i am a puss#y .Think my next one will be a side mounted micromv sony and a new half rack and use the panasoiic piece of sh!t to Dv in Dv out.

But ask other jumpers around you want something that is light strong and most imporant thing it must be PINK

PC-110 mounted on top of a Protec inside a carbon fiber box. The camera slides in and out of the back of the box and is secured by a vlecro strap and a bungee. I can remove the camera/and tape easily without ever having to use the tripod screw. I can also turn the entire mount around to face backwards when needed. The only downside I have so far is that the IR beam is blocked by the CF box so night shot is not an option while wearing the camera/helmet until I get an external IR beam. Otherwise it is a pretty solid setup, and no riser strikes (the only reason I'm paranoid to jump it mounted on the side). Hope this helps. c-ya!

PC 110 has moving lens - on opening shock, right????

I wouldn't recommend this for BASE...

PC 3/5/9 and light, proven helmet - is best setup. I'm currently looking at a bonehead optik, PC 9, roll cage - the perfect setup...

Protec shifts, is uncomfortable and is wobbly, but cheap... My experience and opinion...

Don't go pink unless you are a pu##y...

    Hey Feral,

Would you go for a PC5 or 9 even if you had the funds for a 110? If so why (and don't say you'd spend the difference on pink smack)?

    Thanks Mate,

    Skin.

Flick it 'til it falls off.

Hmm, I've heard before that the PC110 uses a floating lens, but I ran into this page while looking for digital camera reviews:

    http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_...pc110_pg2.html

This guy says the PC110 uses digital image stabilization. Can anyone clear this up?

No as i am not producing movies that are watched by thousands and the only way you would know the difference between the pc5/9 and the pc110 is if you had the shots on tv's next to each other .The main difference is weight and size on your head the mega pixel is bull sh!t as your not taking photos .

And go pink its the colour of a TC (tuff cu#t)or even a SHTC (super hard tuff cu#t)

Yes, the 100/110 and all the other sony cameras i know of have digital image stablization.
But the 100 and the 110 (the largest sony pc series cameras ever made) have a floating mechanical piston driven focal emelemnt thingy. when the camera is accelerated or decelerated in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the lens (ie. the direction you are looking) it will go out of focus momentarily. It only last about 1/2 a second, but to some that is a fairly important 1/2 second. I jumped a 100 for about 2 years and I was suprised the damn thing never broke because the mechanism takes a beeting on ever opening.

Go for the pc9. It has the kick ass batery of the 100 and 110 and it is smaller/lighter, good for the mellon.

    use a chin cup.

for BASE, try to get the lightest camera you can.

remember that a PC series Sony camera upright on the top of your helmet will put the lens at least 8(+) inches above your eyes. I personally have found that in BASE, it is best to keep the lens as close to your eyeballs as possible, so you can concentrate on your jump and not tweaking your head to get the shot.

PC-9 would be a good choice. (just make sure you buy SONY!)

I would highly recommend a roll cage of some sort.

    don't ##### up.
