Volcano jumps

The recent Mexico city volcano eruptions remind me of the stories I heard years ago of Carl Boenish, Jean Boenish, and Phil Smith jumping into that same volcano when it was dormant, with Jean breaking her leg on landing. Imagine being volcano #1. Point me to the nearest dormant volcano please. --Chris

Do you mean Cerro au Tauna in Venezuela? Jean and Phil jumped onto the plateau with Bill Booth and Macho Mitch Decoteau with a bunch of others in the mid eighties from a DC3. Jean broke her leg and had to be heli-vacced. Phil sprained both ankles real bad and was dragging himself around.

They were hoping to BASE jump off the top and walk out, but they ended up getting picked up by helicopter from the top and flying out.

Carl wasn't around then.
