I'm sure you've already done a lot of looking around for this, because I noticed a banner ad for "Bullz Eye" or something on here. But, since we're a male-dominated sport, it seems like there would be plenty of advertisers looking to target that market.

It also seems like there would be a few advertisers who want to pursue an "extreme" image.

I put a lot of time into seeking out sponsorship for a skydiving team, from real-world businesses (not gear manufacturers, for example). I know idea like this don't always pan out as well as they sound. I know it's easy to talk in generalities, but harder to pitch to an actual company.

But it just sounds like you're unnecessarily limiting yourself to BASE-specific advertisers.

I sell some space to to things like bulz-eye, but I get about $0.25 to $0.75 per day for those banner. Whoopie!

As far as other advertisers, I have tried for years, but it is very hard. I got Shilo Inns, and Ameritel, but they both took about 6 months of work to get them to shell out what equals not much more than bulz-eye.

The market just sux, and is only going to get tighter.

But any help/leads is always appreciated.

As for the numbers...

OK, if 300 jumpers a year go to bridge day for 20 years, and lets be generous here, say 100 of them are first time jumpers, we have 2000. The rest of the BD participants are regular BASE jumpers, and how many of them are there - past and present?
2 maybe 3000 - Not many. (these facts are based on my personal perception, which may be totally inaccurate).

My estimate: Currently, less than 1000 ACTIVE BASE jumpers world wide - Less than 5000 have ever made a BASE jump.

A bridge jump is a BASE jump, but is a bridge jumper a BASE jumper? What defines an ACTIVE BASE jumper?

As for the article: I don't really think Felix on the cover - standing on the hand of Jesus was really positive for the image of BASE jumpers...
What do you believe all the Jesus and God believers out there thought about that? Not that I care...

Mick: you're right I don't know anything about webpages. I was surprised to hear that Blincmagazine got 260,000 hits a day. I thought that seemed like a lot of exposure and advertisers would jump (no pun intended) at using Blinc for advertising. Sorry for the smear...:'(

It actually is a sore/funny subject.

The traffic is continually going up; hence so does the cost for the bigger server, bandwidth and software. But until I start getting in the 1MIL hits per day, the money is just not there. There are already too many web sites in the world. And the ones making any money are getting >1MIL hits a day.

Currently I am "almost" making enough to pay for the total cost of the site. I still pay a little, and non of this counts my time at all.

I ask for help from users because, this is a free service. So like I aksed before to people; "If you find value in this free service"; you can show appreciation by donating money to help keep it going. Actually, the money that was donated went strait back to software and server costs.

Glad to hear you consider me a friend. I feel the same.
