    Since the invention of rangefinders the rock drop distance method is no longer being used to find the distance of objects, instead rocks are used for checking the verticalness of said object.

    I am rather unfamiliar with how far a rock will travel in a certain amount of time. If anyone could post the distances traveled up to 6 seconds it would be appreciated.

    in the style of dead-reckoning...

    1sec - 16 feet
    2sec - 60 feet
    3sec - 150 feet
    4sec - 240 feet
    5sec - 350 feet
    6sec - 500 feet

    the latter distances may be off by +-40 feet for a rock.

    don't go by the sound of the rock hitting. this will increase your measured time by a second or so.

    1100 fps, 330 mps,
    have fun, and also for low stuff, first check out your reaction time and then factor that in for a more accurate calc...
