The misuse of BASE terminology is running rampant on this board and in the BASE world in general. Here are the correct definitions of several new BASE terms. Please be certain to use them correctly.

Put it in the Trunk, and Take it Over the Border:
What you can do with an object that has zero bust factor. Example: There were no cops for miles—that tower was so cold you could put it in the trunk and take it over the border.

Pack it to the Rafters:
A large scale packing session in which either (a) one jumper packs all of his multiple rigs, or (b) multiple jumpers pack at least one rig each. Example: A half hour later, the entire Mince Division was packed to the rafters. Example 2: It took him all day, but he packed it to the rafters.

Full Attic:
The state of having all of one’s multiple rigs packed. Example: I packed it to the rafters, and now my attic is full.

Mission From God:
A single day or night in which one jumper makes multiple solo jumps. Example: He spent the day packing it to the rafters, and that night, with the attic full, he was on a mission from God.

Yehh Lovely Bro! we love jargon and its correct use, I've got 1 for you:

Sha**ed up the arse by a BASE jumper:
A BASE jumper who loves no holes bared girls. Example A (two girls talking after a friday night out) - Last night I was sha**ed up the arse by a BASE jumper. Example B, I love it when I get Sha**ed up the arse by a BASE jumper.

Nice 1

Here's one my roommates made up. I'm not totally clear on what it means, but I don't think they are either, since they're both non-jumpers.

Low Entry: (1) A jump on which deployment is radically late for a given gear configuration. Ex: He removed his slider and took a 48" PC to 7 seconds--now that's low entry. (2) The lowest puller on a multi-way jump. Ex: Mad Moffett always took the low entry slot on the Mince ways.

CSA - Technique employed to motivate reluctant jumpers. Like a PCA but involves pushing the ba$tard off the object. Full name - Chicken $hit Assist.

Hotel / Motel - The victim of a CSA. Likely to be a mountain biker or some other "extreme athlete" such as a skydiver or librarian. Basically a question over the participants sexuality.

McCurdy - Failure to recognise the nature of your immediate surroundings resulting the posing of inane questions at the exit point such as "3, 2, 1 - Where am I?"

The McClellan - A technique for the expedition of exit mechanics without consideration or forethought for conditions, altitude, other jumpers on the load, video footage (What?) or personal safety. Motivated by virtigo (not Jimmy & Marta).

Kensillism - To repeat an order whilst simultaneously carrying the order out. For example "Try a gainer this time, Jimmy"
Response - "Trying a gainer". Repeat until nauseous.

Heard a guy mention a "skydive" once too. Not sure what he meant. I think it was something to do with Ian's post.

Pull til it goes purple.

I have come across the wonderful discussion of base terminology and feel the need to include my personal favorite. By the way, I know choppy and he is a site burning bastard.

bonus load (n.)- a load on which you not only get the pleasure of a fine jump, but also the relief associated with a fine time on the throne.
example: It was a good thing that Choppy had his fear tickets becuase 2 seconds from 600 ft. he got his bonus load. Choppy had a fine jump with a great dump.

double load (n.)- syn. bonus load

Crappy's got a lot of nerve, calling me the site burner. He can't even exit without a CSA! WHat happened on that span was a freak occurrence, normally you can load that one in the trunk and roll straight over the border.

His idea of low entry is going stowed. Or sitting on the couch and rubbing his balls.

Choppy, The fact that you could roll that site straight over the border is why you deserve to have your ass kicked. Burning a safe jump is worse than burning a site with a high bust factor. You jump like a bitch, flat and stable is the only release form that you have ever tried. How about some acrobats, and if your too big of a bitch to try something in the air, at least place your landing. Last time we aimed for the ground you found the only water within 3 miles. You also only jump sites high enough that you might as well be a skydiver.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with sitting on the couch and rubbing your balls.

Clearly Crappy is nothing but a kooky, ball-rubbing clown. I don't know what he thinks he knows about me, but at least I can't keep track of my jumps on one hand. He's a big man on the base board though, calling water landings and accusing me of skydiving sympathies.

Clownboy even signed his last post with my name. What a puke.

Making Love = When Robin Hyde drags you out of his tent and b*tt-fu(ks you. Especially if you're like a daughter to him. BARF!
No sh!t, it's in an email he sent to a pretty little lady. I'll dig it out and post it. It's got a mess of hilarious reading!

Robin,

In the interest of not wanting to add fuel to the fire, I decided to
send
you a private e-mail instead of posting publicly on the BASE board
(aside
from that, I think people are tired of hearing about all of this stuff).

I just wanted to make a few points and attempt to convey to you my
thoughts
and rememberances of last year's events.

First, I'd like to again express my lament over the fact that your
business
dealings with Dann & Jacinta Lee went sour. I know that you put a lot of

thought and work into the Petronas event before things came to a head. I

don't know all of the exact grisly details of how and why things
unraveled,
but I do believe that you should have been recognized and
compensated in
some way for the work that you did do , and believe it or not,
Dwain does
feels the same way. BUT , this is a matter between you and
Skyventure, and
others SHOULD NOT be pulled into this dynamic. And the same goes for the

fallout with Dennis/Avery/Harry et al , I think that all of your
discontent
should be taken up with these individuals directly, instead of drawing
in
all of the auxiliary players. The event organizing & promoting business
seems to be a pretty cut-throat one and of course, everyone is out for
themselves , whether it be for monetary gains, fame & notoriety or
a myriad
of other personal motivations.

I know that you are very upset with many people about various things
with
regard to the Malaysia events over the past couple of years. But I
really
really do feel that your anger is a bit off-target; I know that not a
single
one of these people wanted to slight you in any way. Dwain, Johnny,
Mark,
Anne, Omar and everyone else were all simply singular individuals that
wanted to participate in the Petronas event (regardless of who was
running
the show), and none had any malicious intensions or desires of usurping
your
position or work. All of the side-deals you speak of were arrangement
that
were already put in place by you, before your falling out with
Skyventure.
And the so-called sworn "pledging of allegiance" by all of
these people to
you is overstated, in my opinion , I do not think that any of the
event
advisors ever swore or committed that we would ONLY serve under you;
just
because you had communicated with them about the event and had asked
them
for ideas, opinions !
and assistance in organizing the event doesn't make them your
"loyal
counterparts" , even IF they had agreed to help or expressed
support for your
initial ideas -- in fact, I do not believe that any one them ever said,
"Yes
Robin, I am swearing my allegiance to ONLY you and I will support the
event
ONLY if you are in charge." That was YOUR desire, and you asked
these
people not to attend the event unless Skyventure put you back to the
"rightful position at the top" that you felt you were
entitled to and
compensated you monetarily for being in that position, and you requested

that everyone demand and appeal to Skyventure that you be returned to
that
position. But in reality, no one really cared WHO was running it ,
and
especially people like Dwain & Johnny who had never even met you before.

Everyone wanted to go to Petronas and contribute whatever knowledge,
experience and skill they had to help make the event a fun and safe one
,
regardless of who was in charge.

And despite what you think about the "clusterfuck"
atmosphere and overall
skill-level at the Petronas event, I will tell you that it was VERY
high.
Most of the participants were from places where 4-6 second delays from
hard-objects are the norm. The vibe was good, people were extremely
FOCUSED, happy and communally supporting each other on every
jump. Politics
and corporate dealings were the last things on anyone's mind. Mark
and Anne
were spectacular in their roles as safety advisors (which I know you do
not
deny), and I'm sure you would have showered them with accolades
had they
been working under you. They're decision to attend the event
without you
running the show was indeed in the interest of the sport.

And to back up Dwain's statement about some event particulars, for
the
record , The wingsuit round taken out of the mix long before the
event
happened, with Dwain,s very strong recommendation. I even remember
him
sending you an e-mail about this when you were still in the planning
stages , expressing concern that he felt wingsuits were too
dangerous and
risky for this event. Aerials were taken out of the mix because the
Petronas people DID NOT allow the gondola to be used for the general
comp
because they were concerned about wear & tear on the machine, stating
that
it WAS broken after the Millenium event and that they had to spend some
major cash repairing it , I HEARD them say this with my own ears.
Otherwise, the gondola would have been used for an aerial component. But

even when you were still part of the event organizing, there were no set

plans in place for ramp construction at the gondola level, so I
don't think
it's appropriate to blame others for the gondola issue!
The only safe thing to do at Petronas were straightforward
hard-launch/tracking jumps, so that's what was done. And as far as
me being
the US Team leader, I remember you telling me that you wanted me to
assume
that slot, and I was just horrified at that thought (and you know I
was)! I
told you that I didn't want that responsibility and that there
were many
others who were far more qualified than I to lead the US contingent
, I was
willing to be a sort of "spokesperson" or liaison-type with
the team stuff,
but like I always told you, I did not feel that I was qualified at that
time
to be a "leader" of anything BASE-related, (and besides
that, you know how I
hate all that being-in-the-spotlight stuff).

Given the number of jumps made and the environment in which they were
made
(type of object/delay range/gear configuration), I personally feel that
it
ended up being a stellar event overall. It"s a sketchy dangerous
object and
the delay range we had to work with was very scary. It was a success
because the jumpers were on top of their game and took the dangers
seriously, and the advisors did a good job at drilling in safety issues.

And as for the KL Tower day last year, well that whole thing was just
fun
crazy (but controlled) mayhem. Very different vibe from Petronas. 6
hours
of jumping, 60 jumpers chomping at the bit, tall/safe object, great
landing
areas, etc. , the energy was tangible and everyone had shiteating
grins
ear-to-ear the entire day. EVERYONE, not just the Aussies & Johnny, were

pushing their limits and trying fun & unique things. Even I, of all
people,
Miss Safety herself, tried some non-traditional things , and
that's saying a
lot about how safe this environment was. There were
2-ways/4-ways/big-ways/aerials/skysurf jumps/canopy flights around the
object/intentional cutaways/wingsuit jumps , anything that could
be done in
BASE was done that day. I DO NOT believe, however, that any one jumper
took
things to a level that was extremely dangerous or reckless. Everyone
knew
their limits and all were committed to putting on a good safe show for
the
organizers and crowds, and Avery & Co.
did a great job at keeping things organized and moving along safely.

I know that my recounting of events may not seem relevant to the issues
at
hand, but I am just trying to offer an inside glimpse into how things
went
down during those two events. And the fact that no one died or got
seriously injured at these things was due not only to skill, experience
and
event parameters, but there also WAS an element of LUCK involved!
Regardless of how safe we try to make BASE, there was, is and will
ALWAYS be
an element of luck involved in all of our jumping careers (however
long/short/dated/new). Better technology, experience & knowledge,
protective gear, good packing, proper training & guidance, good
decision-making and judgment all contribute to longevity in our sport,
but
we will never be able to completely eliminate the luck (i.e. risk)
component
(good or bad).

Anyway, I know that you know all of this already. But this is why I
don't
think that you should be attacking Dwain & Co. for being reckless
irresponsible immature chest-pounding punks , they are experienced

knowledgeable jumpers who know their own limits and push them when
circumstances are appropriate. And though not jumping as far back as the
80's, "time in grade" is all relative , even
though Dwain (and others) have
only been BASE'n for 8 years , the type of jumping, the
gear, the knowledge,
the parameters in which you are jumping goes a LONG long way. To amass
1000+ jumps from hundreds of different sites around the world (with only
a
miniscule handful of those from the Perrine BTW) during this length of
time
speaks volumes. Don't forget , Dwain & other Aussies
were learning to jump
in Australia , nasty objects, nasty landing areas and a time-warp
knowledge
and gear-wise. I'd say they were learning much the same way that
you & the
other pioneers were learning. They
deserve credit for this.

And as far as character goes , you will not meet a more fun and
sincere
group of guys to jump with , they enjoy themselves, they take
death & injury
very seriously and they are out there actively jumping to satisfy their
own
spirits. If you ever have the opportunity to jump with them, you will
understand more of what they are about. The fact that Dwain and others
who
push their limits at times (including Slim/Tom/Johnny/Yuri/Jeb & so many

others worldwide) tell stories and laugh at themselves is not in the
interest of pounding their chests or telling "no ##### there I
was!" tales
for respect, admiration or ego-feeding , instead they are
providing fun
anecdotes for others to laugh about and hopefully learn from. We are a
small and intimate but growing worldwide community, and in the end,
these
stories and tales will be the stuff that history is made of, just
like the
stories of the old BASE pioneers fed our imaginations over the years.

As far as their own personal concerns for "the future of
BASE", well, I
think they have the same desires as we all do , continued/increase
safety &
knowledge for themselves and all jumpers, improved & continually
evolving
technology, access issues, developing/advancing our own skills, etc. We
all
want the same things and we all want things to move forward in positive
directions. But along the way, we will all keep doing what comes first
on
our lists , and that is TO JUMP , regardless of what the
general public or
corporations or authorities think about us. That is the heart of
BASE. Get
altitude, get air, land safely, then start looking the next fix. If we
wait
around for every site to become legal before jumping it or if we are
counting on corporations to sponsor our jumping excursions, we'd
never be
jumping. Now that doesn't mean that we all aren't willing
work toward that
end in supporting certain areas of access/legislation/public demos/etc.,
but
99.9% of the time,
most jumpers just want to have fun traveling around the world doing
their
own thing and could care less about becoming a paid corporate BASE
jumper.

None of these guys are actively seeking to be "leaders in
BASE", and no one
is looking to wheel & deal in the corporate world of promoting
extreme-sporting events or gaining massive corporate sponsorship deals.
Most of them just want to continue doing what they love doing, and have
the
opportunity to advance and grow to be better jumpers.

So stop the juvenile name-calling and public accusations. Instead, why
don't you let go of the convoluted past and move on toward the exciting
future.
Life is too friggin short to harbor such animosity and stress. Like Doug

said, drop the hammer -- pick up your rig and come play with us
instead! I'm serious about this -- I really do think you would have fun.

You know that I mean no insult or ill-will in telling you all of this,
and
hope that after all time we've known each other that we can talk
candidly
like adults and friends. I've always enjoyed your friendship and
your sharp
mind, and if you were ever in dire need of anything, I would be there to

offer what I could in the way of conversation, miscellaneous ideas,
emotional support or whatever , regardless of all of this Petronas
crap. In
fact, I feel that my fondest times with you have been when we talked
about
things more meaningful than skydiving, BASE and the stupid world of
politics-money-power.

I know that inside you are a sensitive soul and you feel that many
people
have wronged you. But I am not willing to stand by and let you attack my

friends and loved ones , you do not know the hearts of these men,
and I do.
They are decent and good people.

That's all I really wanted to say. I'm so tired now. You may
end up
flaming me for this and disputing me point-by-point, but it is not my
desire
to get into a debate grudge-match with you. I don't know if any of
my
endless ramblings ever reach your inner layers, but I just felt that I
needed to speak my peace.

made
it all happen and that they should donate a portion of their winnings to

How many times did that happen?

I spent $7,000 and 1,000 hours to make this happen (that's half a year

40-hour weeks and I asked for just $3.00 per hour compensation), and I
RELIED ON YOU and the other four as my staff, a slot you ALL agreed to
fly,
to work with me and support MY project, not cut deals with Dann on the
side
and undermine the whole thing.

YOU FIVE are responsible for the breakdown in those negotiations.

No, but that's you all DID -- and in a textbook sociopathic way. Your
contention is all CRAP. YOU and every other one of these people you
named
did INDEED say they would help ME do this project... not one of you ever

said you were out for yourselves and wanted to participate regardless of
who

how
come ALL of you received money and benefits for that work?

As for this comment:

I didn't swear not to drag you out of my tent and butt-##### you in the
moonlight that night we spent at Courthouse, either, did I? Or to not
take
your car and leave your ass out there by yourself either, did I?

But I didn't do those things because, regardless of how nice making love

with you in the moonlight would have been, it's implied in the general
social contract that we have as human beings that such a thing isn't
acceptable, overt pledges or not.

So spare me your eighth grade contract formulations. Your ex post facto
rationalizations are an insult to my intelligence and your own too,
though
you did confirm and reinforce the most important point:

NONE OF YOU gave a ##### about me or anybody else except yourselves.

And that part about "Dwain and Johnny didn't know you."

This is really pathetic. Dweasel was invited into the project -- and
introduced to Dann Lee -- based solely and completely on YOUR
recommendation, because I TRUSTED your integrity and your judgment -- a
trust that was obviously misplaced in a person I obviously didn't then
know
nearly as well as I do now.

Ditto for the Weasel and Surfer Boy. I TRUSTED Hewitt's integrity and
judgment in vouching for Weasel, and look what it got me (not to mention

HEWITT was the one who said "Don't go unless we're all included").

And of course, this doesn't even address all the people around the world

whom I also "don't kow" but who DID stand me and the PRINCIPLES I stood
for -- many of whom lost money canceling airplane tickets out of respect
for
me and for the future of their sport.

Then there's THIS revisionist drivel:

"I do not think that any of the event advisors ever swore or committed
that
we would ONLY serve under you; just because you had communicated with
them
about the event and had asked them for ideas, opinions!"

What a bunch of Dweasel-spawned CRAP. I asked ALL of these people to
help
staff the events and provide certain services, NOT (as you're trying to
rewrite the facts) simply for their ideas and opinions... and YOU KNOW
IT!

Then we come to your piece de resistance:

"Like Doug said, drop the hammer -- pick up your rig and come play with
us
instead! I'm serious about this -- I really do think you would
have fun."

This is beyond pathetic; it's truly horrifying. Imagine that you invited
a
man into your house, where he proceeds to "date rape" you, then
justifies it
by saying he never "pledged" not to rape you, and THEN declares that you

should just forget about his crime and go on another date with him.

What a moral cesspool you live in.

Show me the money, show me the public recognition, and all is forgiven
--
both by me and by that deep part of your own soul that hates what you've

done and become.

Until then, go ##### yourself.

Robin

Choppy hasn't yet mentioned that he has spent the past couple of weeks having "friends" over. Last time his "friend" spent the night with him in the same bed. That is why he is so intent on the use of bonus load terminology. When you have an ass as loose as his, one can't help but have a bonus load. Choppy, please quit putting your self-promoting terminology on the board
