I was kinda wonderin' the same thing, they are a bit different...although I suppose you could get a contusion AND a concussion from the same blow to the melon... ;-)

I have now sobered up and find myself deeply disappointed by your un-BASE-jumper like conduct.

When (not if) I make an error as hapless as this again I fully expect you to rip the pi$$ out of me and make me look as stupid and uneducated as I actually am. It's my right to be treated like an a$$hole for this kind of gaff. When I checked the board this morning and re-read the post I thought I may get away with it slipping into insignificance as more weighty matters were discussed. At least I can rely on you guys to draw attention to it.

Would I not yell "wait" half way through your exit if I were on your load? A true BASE jumper would.

Punish me. I've been a naughty boy after all.

The post should have read "No, noone has ever suffered a contusion". I've blown it now. It's all in the timing.

For the hapless uneducated:

contusion - An injury in which the skin is not broken; a bruise.

concussion - An injury to an organ, especially the brain, produced by a violent blow and followed by a temporary or prolonged loss of function.

hapless - Luckless; unfortunate.

uneducated - Not educated.

P.S. Has anyone out there ever bruised themselves BASE jumping? I heard it's dangerous, so I guess you guys must bruise yourselves sometimes.

So, I have developed an Ulcer from bad exits and my starfish is a little chapped from having to pucker up so tight. Is all of this considered a BASE injury or is it just my personality. I also tore my pants running under a fence.

i am the guy who makes all of your jumps safe. no, i'm, not that guy from paraguay. i am the guy that takes all of the stastical lumps for you. 18 jumps, 2 hospital rides, many, and i mean many bruises later, cuts, and even a fence strike later, i still refruse to quit. i will see you in idaho. my wish is to my bros. take the video and leave the rest.

Christ I thought I was doing bad with 2 hard landings in 102 jumps. What happened on the 2nd hospital ride? I heard about the foot.

PS. When you are in ultra deep brakes don't go passed stall point at the very end of the flare--especially with a hand cam from 200 ft. Also, don't throw the camera like your pilot chute when you step off the edge as you won't get good video. And for the video guys remember that the shot is always more important than safety. Pulling is a close second :-)
