At the present time there are multiple scenarios that could account for Brian towing his pilot chute down to a point just before impact. The gear will be examined and that information combined with video analysis will hopefully provide some information as to why this incident occured. There are however numerous variables that we can not examine. Statements along the lines of "I heard" are dangerous and irresponsible at this time and serve no educational point.

The rig has been inspected, returned and burned(literally) and there is only so many times you can watch the video and look at stills. Let's have it. What is the expert opinion on what happened?

pretty simple. politics and backscratching. pilot chute failure due to misconstruction. BR design.dwayne and co are in major cahoots with
br; dwayne turned pilot chute over to helliwell for analysis who will report nothing wrong with it, blame it on the dead jumpers rigging abilities and hope it blows over quick just like BRs motorjoe unintentional riser release. upshot=check your gear like your mother was gonna jump it, and quit treating some of these "hightimer" "experts" like they are leaders in the sport, when they are juveniles...

Idiot. BR didn't even manufacture the pilot chute in question. Nor the container. Nor the canopy. Sort of blows your crap-ass theory, now doesn't it? Care to take another random guess, since you have all the answers. Wait. . . you weren't there, and don't know a goddamned thing.
