    WARNING!

Never before have I been so aggravated by someone's behavior. I am so mad at this disgusted little puke I WILL give him a black eye when I see him again one day. Your a little poser punk wannabe that doesn't know the time of day when it comes to being a real BASE jumper.

If all of you only knew half of what this little punk has done, I'm sure you would agree.

BASE jumpers beware: What ever you do, don't take this little punk to any of your sites. He has absolutely no common sense about jumping and ABSOLUTELY NO ETHICS FOR THE SITE OR THE SPORT.

This guy is a loose cannon and as much as I hate to say it, I hope that he takes himself out before he takes more away from the sport with his continued presence. It's so terrible to say something like this, but it's true.

DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY TO EXIT POINTS! JUMP WITH HIM ONCE AND YOU'LL SEE WHY!!!

    RE: WARNING!

Hello? Is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me...Is there anbody home?

Who and what are you talking about and who the hell are you? It would help other people to understand if you actually included the name of the person you are talking about so we don't take him or her on a BASE jump. While you're at it, have the dignity to post your own name...

And you might as well tell the world what exactly the problem is...

    Later...

    RE: WARNING!

Man do I look stupid. I was so wrapped around the axle that I forgot to mention who he was.

Thomas aka Tokemon. I hate to do this, but my name cannot be listed in any way because of where I work and what I do.

However, 90% of you know me and I'll explain more in detail when I see most of you this summer.

    Till then...

    RE: WARNING!

how do you know where I work? you cannot post your name because of where you work, but you feel free to post any other names you want without knowing where the other names may work.
sounds like you are a little disrespectful. You don't have much of a clue about me.
what was the other warning???? Don't take me to ""YOUR"" sites. I'll find em myself. and I will jump in a manner that leaves no evidence of me being there.
just stop being harsh on the board. i was just telling stories to give something people to read about. and look how many people have gotten their panties in a bundle reading these stories.
hey, the stories may not even be true. I might just be lying to everyone about having jumps other than at TF. for all you know, (first name, and board name) I could be some snot nosed 12 year old punk trying to have some fun on his computer. I just can't find them good porno sites yet.
those who know me, know me.
and my opinion is that if you want to use other people's names, then POST your own!!!
    COWARD!
    Thomas

---or I can just register under a new name. Mick will know who I am, but it may fool you. until I start rambling again, then you'll recognize the "style" :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

    In all fairness. . .

While it pains me to interrupt a perfectly good tarrin' and featherin' online, I feel obligated to share a few data points.

Thomas visited our Puddletown earlier this summer. He contacted local jumpers before he arrived in town, and did not burn any objects while he was here. In fact, he made some progress on opening several closed objects. When asked not to jump certain objects, he demurred and did not bring heat to any objects while here.

I took him out to jump one night. There was a bit of the usual BASE drama, and at exit he did not feel comfortable with the jump and backed off while I went ahead and jumped.

Actions speak louder than words, at least in my book. These were his actions while he was here, and I feel it necessary to share these facts. Some of his words since then have been quite, um, inflammatory (could you lay off the homophobic comments at least Thomas?), I know. That said, it is funny to see BASE jumpers get their shorts in a bundle over a "renegade" jumper, when 99% of the world looks at all of us as unreconstructed renegades ourselves.

No, I'm not making light of any of his actions or words since then that really have been over the line (wherever that line is). I'm just saying that, as performance art, his flame-baiting here has at times been entertaining. Now whether it is meant as performance art or something else, only he can say. . .

    Peace,

Political correctness is not a "right" granted by the consititution, free speech is. The limiting of it, is far more devastating to our freedom then giving up our S.S. numbers to jump at bridge day. It is the first admendment and the most important(I personally believe they were put in order of importance. 1- talk crap about your government. 2- Back it up with weapons, so on and on.) I normally agree with most of what you have to say, though I have never met you. You may not like or agree with what he says, but it his right to say it. We don't have the right to inflict harm or otherwise disrupt an individual's pursuit of happiness, because we don't like them or agree with their lifestyle. There is a line that is not to be crossed, but some offhand or derogatory remarks doesn't cross it.
As always, this is just my humble opinion.
the sun has set, it's time to dance in the pale light.

I agree that our constitution grants no right of "political correctness," nor more to the point a right for members of minority groups to live their lives free of hate speech. Fortunately, I did not assault poor Thomas with poorly-developed constitutional arguments; had I done so, my logic would have been flawed.

Rather, I simply asked that he try to refrain from using a particular form of hate speech. I doubt he consciously meant any ill will by it (I do know him personally so I have some basis to make this guess), and I suspect it was essentially a harmless and inadvertent habit that many well-meaning people still display from time to time. While few of us would use the "n-word" as a derogatory adjective in today's society (we understand that its history is an unhappy one and is best left in the dustbin, not coming out of our mouths), sometimes folks still use "queer" and "gay" and other non-straight epithets as insults. No matter how you cut it, I call it hate speech.

This isn't the first time I've acted as "language cop" on the BASE board. Yes, it is a bit annoying but I try to ask nicely and inject a bit of humor in the process - I ain't no cop, just a guy trying to foster tolerance and respect as much as I try myself to grant tolerance and respect to others.

Note that I didn't threaten to call law enforcement on Thomas for his sins. . . I just asked he be more considerate in the future. Considerate of the fact that not every BASE jumper, let alone every American or every human being for that matter, is a heterosexual/straight/sexually cramped and boring person. (note attempted use of humor here, however poor)

Anyway, 'nuff said. Thomas has the right to say what he wants and say what he means. I have the obligation to point out that some of his speech, intentionally or otherwise, could be taken as hurtful and cruel by some of his readers - and some of his friends. Since I don't think Thomas is a mean and cruel guy, my gut was that he didn't realize that not every reader (or poster) on this forum is straight. Thomas isn't the first member of our community to forget for a moment that the BASE world is made up of folks straight, bent, queer, gay, bi, and every other sexual diversion out there - just ask the Aussies about their passions for sheep if you don't believe me. Diversity rocks!

Anyway, I'll put my soapbox away now, respectfully and with the full support of freedom of speech - in all its forms. As to people living "lifestyles," non-straight folks aren't living a lifestyle - we are simply being honest with the world and true to ourselves, loving the best way we know how.

BASE jumping. . . THAT is certainly a lifestyle choice :P and a bad one at that!

    Peace,

RE: In all fairness. . .

    hey hey
I have to agree with Jerry, there is nothing wrong about the love between a man and a sheep, its perfectly normal for Aussies and Kiwis alike.

    Long Toke Tokemon
and D-Dog, if you ever need a sheep my uncles got about 10 000. We can help them all over the fence.....
