Anyone jumping PC's without load tapes?

I am trying to sell 2 PC's without load tapes that are made by a BASE manufacturer ……………. But no one will touch them………

I prefer spokes and AV on my Pc’s – I have my own thoughts and reasons for this………. But I just wonder if anyone has any “public” thoughts on “plain ZP” PC’s

    cheers

I have two, think the're from vertigo. The 42"f111 I only use once in a while, because I've a 42"Av also. But the other I use a lot, it's a 44"zp and works good. It's my biggest pilot and use it for low stuff, mostly antenna's.

I also have a 42" PC without load tapes (from Vertigo). It's been my primary PC for 1-3 second delays for the last 50 jumps or so, without problems. I understand why some would hesitate to use such a PC -- it only takes one ripped pilot chute to make for a really bad day -- but I think the key is to maintain your PC's.

PC´s are only majorly loaded when at line stretch. When else could the damage happen? How could it make for a really bad day? The day would be pretty even because one would have done a bitchin delay with a 42", probaly hangin at least a 12er would it not?
    take care,

I have heard of only one instance where a PC has ripped and believe that to be something like a 42 being taken 10+ seconds.

I think this is my point in that people don't want to take them as they believe that the PC is not as strong and may rip, but as Space says - I don't think this is an issue if you use the appropriate PC for the appropriate delay - my reasons for preferring AV / spoked is that the non tape ZP skin PC's seem to oscillate considerably more during extraction than load taped PC's, and certainly more than AV's. This seems the other side of the coin in people not wishing to "buy" these from me (or even "swap" eh NeilQ!!! hehehehehe):P

After I watched some video of my PCs during extraction - even with a "let go" PC pitch on hand held jumps rather than a "throw" PC pitch the PC seems to dance around like a chimpanzee on Ecstasy and some bangin jungle tunes............

    Mac,

I do not understand way you like to sell your PC’s. I can imagine some situations when some body sell theirs PC’s but this is not one of them. Way do you think it is strange that people do not want to buy your PC’s when you sell them because you think there are sub standard and do not work well? I would not sell a PC acting like a “chimpanzee on Ecstasy” to my base brothers and sisters, I would give them away to some DZ kids to play with. (got that idea from Space).

    Space,

“PC´s are only majorly loaded when at line stretch. When else could the damage happen?”

Maybe that’s so but why risk it if it is not necessary. Most of us have been in situations when a certain pre-settled delay need to be changed for a number of reasons. Because as Crwper says and I agree, if you blow up your PC (before line stretch) you will have a bad day and your family will have some bad years, that are if they ever will get over it …

I do not like a PC used for base to be without load tapes. But then again, what do I know. And who am I to tell you what to do or not do, or for that matter think.

The reason I am wanting to sell them is that these PC's are basically new (approx 10 jumps or so on them) - my "chimpanzee" reference is of course highly exagerated........ a chimpanzee obviously cant dance for toffee when on Ecstasy........... :P

my point is that people are jumping these without any problems......... so why do people not want non load tape PC's......

The only real problem I can see is that they skate around a little more than spoked / AV............ not that they may blow up.........

Of course I would not sell equipment I thought was a danger.......

My references are tongue in cheek and should be taken lightly....

In my opinion, the problem is not one of wear and (potential eventual) failure, but rather one of consistent performance.

A PC without load tapes is like a PC with the tapes on the block (rather than the bias), but perhaps even worse. In other words, it will be prone to deformation and oscillation during inflation and extraction on every jump, and thus yield far greater chance of off-heading (or, in the most severe cases, line twist).

I won't use a tapeless PC for the same reasons I won't use a block taped PC--because of it's performance on each and every jump.
