Does anyone know of the difficulty rating of Gorge du Verdon (France). Pictures of it would be appreciated.

Easy walks in and out if you have a driver and a torch.
Tighter landing areas ( not by Aussie standards ;) ) unless you like landing on steep slopes. You have to know about local wind conditions. Certain exit points look very jumpable at certain times of day but then you end up frapping in due to thermal inversions, or having off headings due to localised turbulence at opening height. Some exits require stepping downward sloping launches and other places are underhung. If you know what you are doing you'll have a ball, if not. . . . . . .
The local volunteer rescue service is pretty damned good.
Ask the French jumpers, they will show you around.
Stay Safe
Have Fun

I am just staying put in Chamonix this time around, I'm in Gorges du Verdon during Summer and I'll chase around at that stage.
Thanks again for the help.

Hello,
An accident occured last week end in Verdon. A french jumper died while attempting a BASE in Verdon's canyon. He went unstable and his head hit the cliff 50 m below the exit point. This accident (one among others) is one too much for the mayor of the village where the cliffs are.
Jumping there is now forbidden. Last summer a californian jumper injured her self jumping at the same place. The cliffs are all underhang and the heights are not so important.
A few weeks after this "accident", a french jumper hit the cliff after opening. In each case the rescue came with the helicopter. The Verdon is a protected area.Til now jumps were tolerated. Now it's forbidden.
You'd better know this before going all the way down.
Best regards Marc
Salut Marc.
I didn't know that the site was forbidden since the last accident. I think it's the 1st natural site to be forbidden in France, Jacques "Zoo" Malnuit said last year it was going to be ... too much accidents there.
