IPBC / BDA Bashing

All this bickering is very childish and portrays a very bad picture, ie. the American BASE jumpers couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery and therefore couldn't be a self regulating group in the National Parks.

My personal experience: I did my first jump at BD and after spending close to $2,000.00 to fly a long distance to get there I got one jump while a lot of friends of the organisers (one japanese girl in particular) got three jumps. At the time I did post a complaint on the board and Avery responded telling me to shove my complaint where the sun don't shine.

I have to say I am happy to discover that my gut feeling about the IPBC / BDA is turning out to be true. Sure, I know there are some great guys in there who are doing a lot for the sport, however there are also some guys who don't really care about furthering the sport in general but just want to massage there own egos.

While I can't stand the bickering and glory seeking I ask anyone out there who would sit down and say nothoing if all their hard work was claimed by someone else. I think not and it's about time Avery, Dennis and the rest of the IPBC members claiming resposbility for work they had nothing to do with sat down and wrote a detailed apology to Robin and the community in general.

Avery's silence is not an aquital it's as guilty as OJ.

I think this has all gotten out of control and it's time the children sat down to shake hands and have a bud.

There isn't huge money at stake here just ego so please swallow your pride and pull together for the community in general.

All the bitch slappin' will continue, cuz after all, herdin' cats has always been a challenge.(This is the best analogy to come out of basejumping period) I like legal jump venues, I love illegal jumps. I jump IPBC for 4 years now, one of my best friends is a big foe of the same. I jump with the IPBC cuz it's a chance to party with "mates" who live 2000 miles away for a week at a time, and definitely improve skills. I've jumped a bunch with Avery, I've made a few with Robin Heid. Both have pissed me off at times...momentarily. People are people, grudges cause ulcers. Just jump, get a p.c. out(timely), and everything else can be dealt with.

Dave,
I never really told you to shove your complaint.
In fact, we had an e-discussion about it.
I explained to you the nature of the beast,
(the beast being Bridge Day), and the difficulty
for "newbies" to get multiple jumps.
It usually takes a couple years to get it wired.
Yuriko was fortunate to get a couple BASE
jumpers, Anne and Eric, who both coached her
throughout the day, they know "the ropes".
She got lucky with three jumps.
Now reverse the scenario,
if you'd been lucky enough to find a coach,
and Yuriko only got the one jump.
Just as BDA got a complaint from you,
BDA received a letter of thanks from her.
I wish we could please everyone all the time.
I'm sorry you don't feel satisfied with your
Bridge Day experience.
I'll keep it in mind as we plan future Bridge Days.
