Just how white are we?

Here's another stupid subject for us base board addicts! So there's a lot of primarily white sports out there, but this one has to take the cake. I think I met a dark skinned base jumper one time but that might be it. Why are we so white? Let's see if anyone from Idaho can answer this question in a way that isn't offensive! And just how many ethnic minority base jumpers are ther on the planet?

We are pretty damn white. But I don't think it has anything to do with discrimination or racist attitudes within the community (none that I have observed anyway).
All persons are not really created equal either. Different races simply have genetic predispostions to different abilities, priorities, behavior patterns, etc.
Don't worry, you don't have to feel bad about it. It's really just nature.
Risking ones own life for an immediate personal gratification might simply be a predominetly "White" trait.
Nobody I have jumped with has shown racist tendencies, or hinted at excluding anyone from another ethnicity.
Other sports and activities are lacking the statistical "white" representation. It's just nature.

I think this is a fair question and not racist at all. It's simply an observation.

I'm sure almost all of us has realized that there are not many black skydivers out there. Now, since BASE jumpers come from skydivers 99.715% time, you can see why black BASE jumpers are extremely rare.

I've noticed there are not many black skiers out there and I think it's predominantly because negros don't like cold weather.

I have several close negro friends and I just talked to them about this to get there opinion. Every single one of them looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned "adrenalin-thrill" sports. While there is certainly nothing wrong with it, I believe that negros, genetically speaking, are less likely to take chances in adrenalin sports, such as skydiving, hang gliding, BASE jumping, etc.

I'm not racist in the slightest way, and I don't think this is a racist question. Good question whitey.

I remember Z-Hills back in the 1987, and for sure the negros was not welcome there. And you wonder why? I have met a lot of rasist along skydivers, but not yeat a BASE rasist :-)

Sorry Feral but I am not a English spoken jumper, so maybe thats why the misunderstanding appears in my post. I was sad to see the attitude at the DZ earlier. It was not ment as a rasist post, either why there is almost no negros basejumpers in the states.

I met a black Norwegian BASE jumper on the top of Kjerag last month. His name was Christan and he was way cool! We exchanged cameras for the "I love me pics" and he ran right off the cliff, the crazy dude! Oh wait, I jumped off it moments later...

I've actually been thinking alot about why so many of us take our lives into our own hands. I'm wondering if there is an instinctual desire to help de-populate the world...I mean really, how many of us are having children? Next to none that I know of. And not only are we not breeding, but we're killing ourselves off quite nicely, especially this year. Is there a correlation? It sounds like a thesis paper topic to me. D-dog, you biting? (J/K)

Anyway, I notice lots of caucasians on the slopes, also, and have wondered why the preponderance of white people there. I tend to believe that caucasians, expansionist capitalist freaks that we tend to be (sorry Holland, England, and the US), are just freaking crazy. We're taking over the world, and at the same time we get off on extreme activities that other races find to be completely stupid. We're probably doing the world a favor.

And as for racism...peel off that white, black, red, yellow, or brown skin, and you'll find red meat and white bones, gray brains, and 5 liters of blood that falls into one of several categories. Maybe we should group people by blood type instead of skin color. It would make more sense.

Genetic predisposition for extreme sports? Good question. Anyone else taking the bait?
