When your canopy is pulled from the container, it is lifted from a single attachment point on the center cell. The center cell can be pulled out of the packjob, distorting the line tension within.

This effect is increased when you use pilot chutes that are too large for your airspeed.

Basic Research came out with the Multi to address this problem. Instead of using one attachment point, there are four. This helps keep the packjob together until you reach line stretch.

In my opinion, if you are a new jumper, you should probably stick to a single attachment for now. At this stage of the game, simplicity is better. Just my opinion though.

    Hope this helps. ---Dex

    I generally agree with Dexter.

Be aware that word on the street is that CR has a center cell strip prevention product soon to be released (which supposedly can be retrofitted to existing canopies).

    Hello New Jumper,
I agree with my more experienced firends.
In addition, I feel to give you the following advice.
Buy a Fox WITH Multi, but, as Dexter is saying, while being a new jumper, assemble your bridle directly and only onto the centre front ring (on the canopy): this would give you exactly a "normal" single point bridle attachment BASE canopy. And you start jumping with such an equipment. At beginning of BASE career, simplicity is way better.
When you feel more experienced about your jumping and your equipment, still under the supervision of an expert BASE jumper, recover your 4 multi lines (that you previously stowed in a safe place) and assemble them onto your canopy and connect to them the bridle. Now you have (and jump!) a Multi canopy!!!
I said what above because if you buy a standard non-multi Fox canopy, it cannot be any more retrofitted to be a Multi. So, buy a Multi Fox canopy, use it and jump it at first as a normal single-point bridle attachment BASE canopy and later on, when you feel more confident, re-convert it to be a Multi canopy.
    Just my 2 cents.
    Stay safe :D
