I just got a Fox and apparently it doesn't have a tailgate mod on it. It does have the place to rubber band the slider. My idea for not losing the tail gate is to tie it to the rubber band stow. Is this an idea? No other lines will be trapped.

On the multi is it safe to fold the Fox one time and stow the multi at the bottom of the container versus the top like BR recommends? I'm jumping a Vision...

    Thanks

Any competent rigger ought to be able to install the fingertrap on the C line. I'd probably prefer that to the rubber band stow, just on the "I'm not sure" principle.

How old is that Fox? They've been coming standard with tailgates since the inception of the tailgate. At any rate, I'd just get one put in.

I've never tried packing the multi at the bottom of the pack tray. I'd think it might be a better idea to just freestow the multi across top of the canopy, just below the shrivel flap. That way, the multi is definitely clear of the canopy on the way out of the tray, minimizing the chance for entanglement. I have made around ten jumps with a multi in a Vision this way, and have had no problems.

Thanks alot! I think i'll try that. I think the tail gate mod is just not stretched. Someone told me theirs was really really small as well and took some work to get it in.

It seems like a bad idea to tie the tailgate to anything. In the unlikely event that the tailgate becomes entangled with something, if it was free to go there would be no problem, but if it was tied it might complicate things.

This makes me wonder if my tailgate is installed properly. I can get the red bit of line into the fingertrap pretty easily. And therefore it comes out pretty easily. If I pull on the C-line as if it were loaded it seems very secure, so I think it's OK. I think. What are the ramifications of a too-loose tailgate? (Haven't jumped it yet BTW, mainly because I haven't had a chance to be shown how to use it properly)

The only problem with a loose tailgate is that it can get lost (and you have to get a replacement). In terms of the opening, it may actually be better, since, as crwper points out, it'll pull out if it gets hung up.

I used to jump a rig with a very loose tailgate, and it worked well. I only lost the gate once (because once the lines are tight the gate gets trapped in pretty well even in a loose loop).

    Hi Justin,

I demo'd a Fox a few years ago and put it in my Vision... I stowed the multi in the bottom like you asked about without any problems. It made sense to me at the time... just S-folding it down there in the bottom of the pack tray. But I only made a few jumps like that so the technique is by no means proven. Anyhow, I don't see it a problem.

About the tailgate... yeah, it's really small white line. May have to use a fingertrapping tool to get it in... usually not, but sometimes. I'd go with that rather than tying it to anything other than a center C-line.

    Best Wishes!
    Denise
