Right now I have a plane ticket arriving in Stavanger the morning of August 9th. Our plan is to ferry to Lysebotn and stay there for about 2 weeks. What do we need to plan? Do we have to reserve the ferry ahead of time? What about skill verification and lodging?

They don't have to watch you pack do they?

just flash them your brittney spears sticker and your'e in. the ferry boat ride is about 4 hours and you don't have to have a reservation to ride on it. but i would get a reservation at the base camp if you want to stay in a cabin. be sure to tell the ferry boat captain who takes up the tickets that you are a base hopper and he'll give you a discount.

You didn't say what time you are arriving Stavanger, but most likely it isn't early enough to meet the morning ferry toward Lysebotn. I recommend getting off the plane in Stavanger and taking a bus to Sandnes. You can do your grocery shopping there. The nearest one was only a block or so from the bus station. Then, take another bus from Sandnes to Lauvvik to meet the ferry on it's afternoon trip to Lysebotn.
