Can anyone translate this? What happend and to whom? A BASE-Jumper?
Unfortunately, this happened again !
First of all, I want to say that all these are only second hand info, I've read all this on 2 local newspapers.
Here's the fact.
An italian guy, 25 old, died yesterday after attempting a jump off Brento cliff.
Probably, the guy climbed the cliff without any partner in the Thursday evening. Only (?) a girl was waiting him in the valley but she wasn't with the guy on the exit point.
Once the guy's parents tried to call him on his cellular with any reply, the police was called.
His body was found only yesterday, early in the morning by the rescue teams.
This guy was not known as a BASE jumper and is not clear if he had taken a BASE course and what gear was using during this jump.
My sinceres condoleances to his family and his friends.
Now, we're waiting for more info about this accident.
We would like also to know how is possible for a guy to find the exit point at Brento in the evening and without any help...
Please, help us to mantain Brento legal. Don't attempt the jump without a SERIOUS BASE course and without a BASE specific gear !!!
I've personally seen 2 guys coming back from the exit point (about 2 weeks ago) with their nice skydiving gear on their back !!!
Please, take care & stay safe out there !!!

Assuming the info in the above post is correct:
Why do people insist on circumventing training and not using the right equipment? This is a selfish act that gives the sport a bad name. Not only does it give the sport a bad name but it DOES DEPRIVE HIS FAMILY & FRIENDS OF A LOVED ONE for a very poor reason (accidental suicide ???)!!! This person is (was) very selfish.
We should not treat acts like this as heroic either, this encourages poorly thought out risk maximising behaviour.
Flame me all you like - but do so with understanding and respect for the sport you are participating in.
Natural selection has taught this person a lesson that he choose not to take formally - this happened at Verdon last year too. Please people, use your brains, use information, training, and equipment that already exists properly.
Stay Safe
Have Fun
Good Luck
Never assume that a post is correct....
take care,

Hi Spacy
Even if the above post IS incorrect, the fact remains that many people new to the sport of BASE jumping make conscious decisions NOT to undergo proper training and use the right equipment.
We should discourage this.
Luv Your Work
:P
p.s. "Assume" makes an "Ass" out of "u" and "me". ;-)
