yeah I know, I could search and collate all the posts on this subject but wanted to try and get all thoughts into one post.

After a recent question on DZ.com, I got to thinking about all the people I have spoken to about direct and indirect slider control and the pros and cons as they saw it. I would be interested in people that have tested / jumped both configurations what their general thoughts are (NB: I have only ever jumped slider up once, terminal, and used a non vented canopy, with only indirect slider control with a pack job that was no different than my slider off pack jobs - my opening was not strong and I had an on heading - so as you can see my experience in this area is sorely lacking!):

Just for some ideas about areas of interest:
On Heading performance in the sub-terminal area
    Vented v unvented
2 stow v 1 stow on slider bite on heading performance in sub-terminal area
    No indirect control?
Packing methods (rolling nose etc) with choice of slider control?

anything else you could add and be bothered to sit down and explain would be cool!

I am asking this, as one there seems to be some split in the preferences of people in their slider up jumping, and various reasonings for this.......... When I return back to jumping from injury I am looking to start kicking out some slider up jumps and due to these being in a not so terminal environment would like thoughts about the slider up configuration and findings from people with experience in a wide range of slider up delays. (and yeah I know the lazy sub300 boy wants to go higher sounds like a piss take!!)

Thanks for your time in posting to my "too much time on my hands" questions.

    Michael

PS) this will be moved to the techincal forum after.

I have done a reasonable number of slider up sub-term jumps and my packing varies as follows:

4-6 secs: indirect ctrl only, nose open (as per slider down), standard mesh slider, one wrap on indirect stow

6-10 secs: direct and indirect ctrl, nose pulled out but left in midlle of pack job (not opened), standard mesh slider, one wrap on indirect stow, 2 wraps of slider on direct stow

10+ secs: as above but using a fine mesh slider

This has worked for me just fine, but I'm no expert and your mileage may vary....

    Stay safe

    Neil
