How do you get a BASE number? I am new to this Extreme Sport.

Official BASE and Night BASE Numbers
Joy and I wanted to make sure that you all could still find out how to apply for a BASE or Night BASE number once getting all 4 ogjects. We keep the original list of BASE numbers invented by Carl Boenish and starting with BASE 1 issued January 1981.

We need all your info about the the 4 objects, place, altitude, date and time. Jump stories are appreciated because I love to read them. We wait 30 days to issue and mail out your number to give the rest of the world time to get their info to us in case someone qualifed earlier. We will take the info by e-mail, but because of confidentiality, we only issue numbers personally by snail mail or over the phone, if you are too anxious to wait for snail mail. We only require a $5.00 fee if you want the green plastic card with your number and date and Carl Boenish's signature embossed. It's a cool card. We ASK for a donation of $10.00 as well, but this is totally voluntary. We very much appreciate the fact that even today BASE jumpers like to be tied to the start of our sport by getting their BASE number. Carl Boenish always said he knew the sport would grow and he sure was right. Keep celebrating the human spirit out there, but always pay attention to detail.

I know of a case in which a jumper produced an old CJAA card, and successfully talked his way out of a bust by convincing a security guard that it was a "license" for BASE jumping.
