The Other Night . . .

I don't often talk about recent jumps, but I heard a Nugget the other night, and it must be passed on. The only way I can tell this story is by changing the names of the involved.

At about 11:30 PM I met up with Mary, Peter, and Paul. They also brought along two observers, Ginger and Maryanne, and all are experienced BASE jumpers.

I was BASE guide/ground crew, and I'll be Lance . . .

The building sits on the outskirts of downtown, fronted by the dark bay, but still bathe in the glow of city lights. This, like all high profile objects, calls for get in, get up, and get off in a hurry technology, but I waited as they danced around for a bit. I knew they will be faster next time, and I understand, you don't jump into bed with something that can kill you without first sizing it up.

There's a guard shack at an adjacent hotel, and we are in sight of it, and I watch for signs they think we've already been there too long. The three finally go over the fence and we wait. After twenty five minutes I feel we are lagging too long, and to get my mind off the exposure I pass the time thinking of several clever ways I could get both Ginger and Maryanne naked in the back of the van.

A long hour after our arrival three jumped and three landed and we laughed ourselves silly all the way back to jump headquarters. The weird thing is that after landing Mary and Peter ran into the shadows, whipped out their stash bags, and started field packing while I screamed, "Get in the van!"

I'm enamored by the fact Mary and Peter, not to mention Paul, who is beside himself, are so happy. Mary and Peter, at least, have done just about all there is to do in this sport. It shows it never ever gets old. However, Mary came up with the Nugget, by way of apologizing for the dawdle after landing, she said, "You make a lot of legal BASE jumps, and you get lame."

That's a nugget . . .

Sounds like someone has been playing off Nachos #2...if they keep playing like that I can give them the name of a good lawyer in that lovely city!! Hope all is well Nick!!! Just got off a local 1000 footer with some Phoenix Pants and Jacket...wow!
