Take it to DZ.com. You'll receive the correct roasting there.
Edit to ensure the word d1ckhead showed up.

Gery, I was wondering if you could help authorities posting details about approach and a date and a time for jumping it, brand and colour and number plate of car used for approach/getaway, colour of clothes used, and other nice details so authorities are capable of arranging an appropriate welcome commitee in time![]()
It would be a real pity that authorities miss the landing!!!!!!!!![]()

You guys are being a bit unfair here i have to say.
Gery, i apologise for their rudeness. We're not all like them.
My suggestion would be to apply for authorisation . The best route would be through the department of homeland security, as obviously access to such a place is a security issue.
The man to talk to is Michael Chertoff (i think). They tend not to let just anyone up there, so you'll need to provide suitable credentials. Your name and address, base number, a list of jumps you've done with video and dates is always helpful. The red tape can slow down the whole process so some references can always help. Lawyers, policemen, National Park officials are all trustworthy people who's recommendations will certainly help your application look professional and to be taken seriously. You'll need to provide your own ground crew and rescue boat in case of water landing, and possibly pay for costs to police the event.
Hope this helps.
ps. The last person to jump it was a guy called John Ashcroft. You might want to contact him for information by posting on the dz.com board.
Skin,
Good reply.

Yeehah!
I did it. I just got the pleasure of a personal attack from Tom Aiello.
He has opened his heart to the dark side. My work here is done.

The GGB has been jumped many times. In the old days the first one I remember is a Hollywood stuntman who is trying to fill out his resume and get some attention. He walked up the big round supports before dawn using a carabineer to hook into the cable as he went. He jumped a skydiving rig containing two rounds and from the wrong side wind wise and had a problem with his main and wound up with two canopies out. He was caught by the Coast Guard.
A friend of mine has a key. After gaining access he climbed a bunch of different ladders, most of which ended in dead ends after climbing hundreds of feet up these dark tubes. Then he found the right one. The GGB is an American structural icon and to think it wouldn't attract BASE jumpers is undeserving of its magnitude and certainly a better use than the over one thousand who jumped there without any gear at all . . .

Careful "old timer" (tee hee). You're currently skating on thin ice regarding that "obsession with death" thing, remember. Don't give them the rope to hang you with.....ooopsss...now i'm doing it.Originally Posted by Nick_D

Gery! great timing buddy! We were actually thinking about making a load tonight! we should be there around 9pm. We usually dress like police officers (to avoid security) so if you see one of us out there just walk right up and say,HI! I'm Gery and I'd love to jump with you guys tonight. If by any chanch you show up late, just meet us at the bottom (we usually stick around for a few beers afterwards) the bridge is about 220ft at the span so don't take more than a 3 or 3 1/2 second delay before you pull Good Luck!
