II.Int.Base Boogie Budapest 2005-The REAL Base Contest

We are happy to inform everyone that the II. International Base Boogie Budapest 2005, the REAL BASE Contest will take place again in Budapest by the organisation of the MBSE (the Hungarian Base Jump and Parachute Club) and the Hungarian Base Jump Association, so far the only organised, legal international BASE JUMP event within the European Union and in Hungary.

The date and venue of the event:
The event will take place from 1-4th September 2005, in Szigetszentmiklós, next to Budapest, on the antenna of the Antenna Hungária Rt. and on its direct site.
(In case of bad weather or/and the technical problems of the antenna the event can be cancelled!)

As regards receiving the entry forms the competitors of last year will have priority. In case of application over the deadline the competitors will be registered in chronological order until the limited number of participants.

We are expecting about 40 base jumpers for the event from 10-14 countries of the world on the basis of invitation. This year we will chose a winner in one event: The REAL BASE Contest which will include the following stages of jump:

1, jump control
2, accuracy + landing control
3, getaway simulation

The site of the event can accommodate thousands of people. Apart form the BASE jump Contest other sports programmes and catering facilities will be available.

I would love to come, but I will be having my 7th annual BASE Camp - FJC from Aug. 28-Sept. 5, 2005 in Twin Falls; which is scheduled far in advance. Hopefully next year the dates wont coincide.

Usually a couple of shots fired over the police/onlookers heads will disperse the crowd well enough to allow for a timely escape.

My friends, if you read the cometition rules, you would know its not about competition..its not a serious race or strickt contest, its a boogie, its a big get together, it is an opportunity for all our friends and forieng jumpers to visit Hungary, jump legal and safe on this unique object, and party together. we have to use sponsors, media and public, otherwise we could not organize this possibilty. its not for them, its for the jumpers.
on the other hand events like this does help the public and authorities to accept and respect our sport. thats what I belive in.
you dont have to come if you dont like it.

My post was not against you Csaber. I just think competition and big gathering is pretty far from the BASE spirit. What aspect of BASE jumping were you attracted by when you discovered it? Certainly not the dropzone-skydiving-crowded aspect !!

OBVIOUSLY you guys havent checked out the details of this awesome UNIQUE object the Hungarians are gonna let you jump off...nothing like it in the world..
And OBVIOUSLY those whose are bagging this event have never experienced Hungarian hospitality...this is a party i am spewin i have to miss..
