With my ass off drokzone I’d like to see blinc regain much off its lost lust.

I am a firm believer that information should be shared.

My job is in academia and my information is free. Of course students pay tuitions with the goal of ending up with a degree but nonetheless the information is there free of access to anyone.

I love talking about the technical aspects of BASE especially the gear part. We all agree that nobody can learn to BASE over the internet but there are still many things that we can share.

On dorkzone it seems that such conversations were nearly impossible with newbies/wonnabes /BASE gods disrupting what could have been great food for thoughts, not to talk about its super-duper moderator!

In one year or so I should also have a fully operational loft where much hands-on experimentation will take place including building harnesses and containers and hopefully canopies as well. All this again just to **** around because I have no intention of rigging for a living, my real job is for that!

So why don’t we all try to revive blinc to its original splendor?

    >>I think that's an absolutely fantastic idea. There needs to be a BASE specific forum that's free from any outside influences and regulated by BASE jumpers. Sort of like the sport itself.

Okay, start a low-brow thread we can all understand and relate too. None of that neuroscience crap.

    >>Hey ****head,

are you gonna keep ****ing up all the forums?

This **** should be taken into the talk back forum.

    Tom, you there?

Why don't you try to clamp your nuts?<<

Come on Nick - you're one of the ones I hear the term "dorkzone" from the most. What good does it do? Or your posts like the above? What form of "academia" is that from?

And do you remember how bad this place was before we migrated?

The purpose of the BASE Zone on DZ.com is to benefit newbies looking for information. A class of people we learned a long time ago we ignore at our own peril. In the meantime non-interested skydivers wander in there too and they can't help but have some of their BASE myths dispelled. And give people the credit they deserve for being able to separate the truth from the baloney. I wouldn't waste my time there if I didn't believe that.

For what you are looking for try the "BASE Hotline" or any of the other password protected BASE sites.

"BASE Boards" come and go. I had the first one online in 1987. Then it was over here. Now it's over there. Someday it will be somewhere else. Always forward, never back . . .

If you have "technical" things you want to talk about call Todd or Marty, either of those BASE gear manufacturers will spend large amounts of time on the phone with you, or anyone else. I'm over there on the BASE zone for the people who don't yet even know what questions to ask and much of that two-way back and forth goes on via PMs. And if you don’t realize that's what that place is all about you'll never be happy there.

If you do know that - why spit into the soup we all have to eat?

I actually think Tom should tighten up on a few people over there, but he does a good job. Besides, he's enforcing HH's rules over there, not his own. He's a mod here too, or he used to be. And it was obvious he approached it in two different ways.

Now watch this – the next post down will be from Robin Heid and the whole friggen thing is going to start all over again, LOL.

And I just noticed this site is censoring words, look at your post above. At least over there you can use the F word when it's appropriate, or in your case, even when it's not . . .

Umm, thanks Nick. I guess we all have our own opinions. I think a little humor helps every now and then. It brings balance.
As for DZ.com BASE zone being there to help people interested in BASE, I'd say thats a good one. Unless you're a girl with a pretty avatar, every poor soul that wanders in there gets lit up like a Johnny Gates fireworks show.

    Well,

I guess it was very naive of me thinking this would be/could have been a better place...

Nick I have zero respect for you as well.

Apparently you have the “rights” to personal attack anyone w/out getting banned not to talk about your life ethics.

    Remember this?

    “You know what - **** all you lame boneheads . . .

And if you're not smart enough to reply on your own without doing a word for word autopsy on my post than spare me.

The bottom line is I looked, figured I wouldn't be a factor in anything going on below, and went. If that isn't good enough for you then begin reading again from line one above.”

Probably Tom should tighten up on you but he does not but he banned Bryan for much less.

For those of you who don’t remember it’ll be worth it re-reading Nick’s posts on the “Back with the living” thread. It’s a clear display of who he really is.

Tom, when you find yourself in a hole it’s advisable to stop digging. Unfortunately I think your hole is so deep and covered with crap that not even a sonar will show you the way out.

    I’m outa here too.

See you at the exit point hoping for 30 MPH tailwinds.

Nick and Tom here are few lines I stole from Abbie from the very same thread that really reflect my feelings for both of ya:

    “you are a f u c k i n g c o c k. i dont care how long youve jumped or you many years you have on me in this lifetime.“

“thats horibbly selfish to say. and there is no "we". we (every freakin jumper) arent brothers, nor do we share anything unique other than an interest in a particular sport. we all have an interest in keeping that sport alive but there is nothing special about any one of us that makes us elite or above common courtesy”

    “you c u n t”

“dont pull that bulls h i t card on anyone, i already explained above... we're not the stonecutters. this aint a religion”

“smoke some dope and screw up some more measurments.”

“maybe i can be banned for more than 14 days this time.”

    I did for life.

    “ps- f u c k you.”
    Dr. Nick

    NickR,

I've been assisting those looking for BASE information for a very long time now. If that post you quoted is the only one you could find that makes me look bad - that's okay with me.

You guys, and your negativity combined with all the, "I own this site," and, "I opened that site," or "I jumped it first," is laughable as you're all kind of late to the game.

You may think it's the same thing, but it's not.

In 1986 I received an e-mail from a Florida jumper named Mike Allen. He was planning a difficult BASE jump from a coastal ship light and looking for all the advice he could get. But that's not the difference either.

The difference is you guys now get to go out and open new objects, pretending you are BASE pioneers, when in reality you have years of accumulated BASE information behind you. The true pioneers didn’t have that, and it's like them going west in a covered wagon compared to you following along a few years later on the train.

I'm pretty comfortable with my small contributions to the sport. Keeping the Fatality List, publishing the Fixed Object Journal, doing the interviews, answering every e-mail I get, and trying as best I can to stay positive and forward looking. You fellows act like you're in now and you want to slam the door on the next guy coming up.

I'm certainly not the most experienced BASE jumper in the world. I've never been and I never will be. But I pay attention to history because I know it's the future in reverse. And I'm doing all right considering. This year I made six BASE jumps, and two skydives, one from a plane and the other from a low balloon with BASE gear. That probably doesn't sound like something to brag about, but I've had cancer twice, my legs are full of hardware, and they cut one of my balls off.

I'm 53 years old this month. We'll have to wait & see if any of you guys are still in the game at that point in your life . . .

Yeah that probably is the only one anyone can find that makes you look bad...however i remember when i was a new jumper and you were "assisting" so much you took a picture of yourself with a gun to your face in what was nothing more than a pathetic plea for some damn attention. But no-one else will ever see that again because it has been deleted from all the archives.I guess that meens it never really happened. So how dare you come on here and act like you only have one post that made you look bad.How about all the other post you write about how you lost respect for this person or that person and calling people "a punk who couldn't get there way" You need to worry more about the peoples respect you lost than the respect you lost for other people. And now nick youre the last person anyone should listen to!

    Anyone else?

    Come on - pile on boys . . .

    I can take it.

We, all of us, are going to be down to nothing sometimes. But those guys, at that point, are really the ones you should be listening to . . .

A guy falls into a hole.

A policeman walks by and the guy yells up, "Hey, can you help me outta here?"

    And the Policeman walks off.

A Priest walks by and the guy yells up, "Hey, can you help me outta here?"

    And the Priest walks off.

A stranger walks by and the guy yells up, "Hey, can you help me outta here?"

And the stranger jumps down into the hole.

"Great," the guy says, "now we're both stuck down here."

"Not quite," says the stranger, "I've been down here before, and I know the way out."

    Nick D,
In case anyone isn't sure, the following should be categorized as balloney.

    Dorkzone . . .

    Okay I said it.

Because wading through posts like "Oh, my God, I just went to Elsinore for the first time and it rocks" – leaves me gagging for air too.

But we don’t write for those people, or for HH either.

We write and try to educate the ones you never hear from. And there are thousands of those people. It's like you're never really truely alone in a room, or even in your own mind, as there is always a cosmic audience.

Ok now how about a nice 2 way off the top rail. You and me. Right after we both loudly scream "Hey, look at me!"
Could you do that? Maybe just once?
