I was talking to a coworker tonight while on a flight to Wichita and he was asking about wingsuit BASE and proximity flying when he asked a question that I've never really thought about before.
I've never flown a wingsuit (skydiving or BASE jumping), being a relative nooby to BASE jumping, what is the lowest height that a typical BASE jumper will jump from wearing a wingsuit? |

Top that!

![]() Stoney, I know of some guys that have jumped objected where a rock drop was 300-400ft down and then you fly the profile of the mountain and are 2000ft vertically from the LZ... so you have to get flying right away. Then there's base935 who jumped a 300ft building with his wingsuit on! hahah! And Oscar and a few others who've jumped the perrine with their wingusits. funny stuff. i dont think anyone cares to put a wingsuit on for less than 1400' though of vertical. doesnt seem like it would be worth it to me. my first wingsuit base looks like will be this year... i'll leave someone the login for the BFL. bwahahaha, JUST KIDDING! -

Curious, whats the seconds to impact that someone would consider trying to out fly a talus in a wingsuit?

I'm assuming you mean actually flying a wingsuit.
If I recall correctly...the slot that got Jimmy Hall was about 600-700 feet to get flying over and he came up short. I've heard you need 600' just to get flying - and that's with a solid exit. The Norgies, or JT, or Miles would know to the nat's ass I wager. I'm taking the new Flockus of a great big stick for my first one. Probably 1800. But then again, I'm a big vagina when it comes to pushing limits. Took me 130 jumps to try a double gainer.
