    lets say hypothetically,

    you go bring your base canopy up in a skydive environment to dial in your brake settings to get super close to the stall point. you mark off how close to the cats eye that point is.

    since you weigh an extra 20 lbs or so with skydive gear......my question is,
    when you actually go base jump your canopy, would you have more of a chance of stalling out when you base jump minus the extra 20 +/- lbs of skydive gear, or would you have more of a chance of stalling out if say you weighed even more on a base jump than when you were skydiving your base canopy (say you overindulged for a month straight and became a fat morbidley obese beerdrinking fuck hypothetically)

    does this make sense?

    im trying to figure out if it takes more or less weight to reach a stall at a predetermined brake setting. im gonna have my canopy by spring and im gonna definitely put some skydives on it to get those brakes perfect for me and have them tweek the DBS

    You can observe your slider down/no slider brake settings on balloon jumps or helo hover jumps. to get an idea of any differences from slider up. Also a good idea to know the differences in flare performance btwn slider up and down. My brakes are a tad shallow to allow for different weights I may be carrying and so I know I cant shut down/completely stall my canopy...especially if I have to sink it in btwn ground objects.

    Are you really jumping 20# heavier with your small reserve and a similar harness? I bet I'm heavier leaving a terminal antenna than a plane with a reserve. I bet they're pretty close, don't be a kitty cat.

    naah im not really concerned with the skydive thingy but what i was trying to understand is if you pull your toggles slightly from a preset brake DBS will you stall quicker with more or less weight.
    like if i jumped a friends canopy who wheighs 30-40 lbs more than i do where his DBS are dialed in pretty deep. (wondering if theres a possibility of me actually opening into a stall)

    Only 'cuz you're gonna scale that thing with 2 gofast, a liter of water and some food and safety supplies (ok I'll carry the safety) and a 3million candle power friggin light!!!


    Chris If you're loading the wing too light you'll stall sooner. . .meaning it will take less input (toggles or risers) to reach that stall point. So if your deeps are set too deep you'll actually open in sort of a "stall surge stall surge".
