Hey guys, I just created an account about 5 minutes ago and was wondering if anyone knew any locations in Montana to base. By these locations, I primarily mean natural places (cliffs, etc...). Not sure if there are many people registered on here from Montana or know about it, but any info would be great. Thanks

That means pretty much nothing. Jumping what and where? Montana is well, kinda big ya know?

4 years skydiving at 4 jumps a year? or what?

Anyway, go to the K Mart parking lot and look toward Bridger Bowl.

If you're serious, you'll see what I'm talking about. You really can't miss the huge mountains if you look hard enough. It has been 20 years since I lived in Bozeman and I wasn't a skydiver or base jumper yet. I don't remember exactly what it looked like but if you explore, you'll be the resident expert.

Alright thanks, the place where you're talking (if we're talking about the same place that is) is where I've been thinking about for a while. And 4 years ago I received my A license and have been skydiving. 3 years ago I did my first BASE at Twin Falls, Idaho with very good instruction from local residents. I have been jumping quite frequently since...but once again thanks, I hope we're talking about the same location.

You still won't say how many jumps you have! Be less Vague... seriously. If you said that to me in person, I wouldn't even take you to the easiest Power Tower jump in the world not far from me. oh yeah... (laugh out loud) quite a bit means very little (laugh out loud again)

    A license. 25 skydives.

First Perrine Jump. Ok, you've jumped the Perrine. My mom has done 2 tandem skydives. I'd take my Mom there, put a life jacket on her and PCA her if she was daring enough.

Not ridiculing you, but read what you're telling us.

So, four years of skydiving, three of BASE, jumped with the locals at potato, and jumping frequently so you're current? Does that sum it up?

In all that time, you never checked out the major online BASE resources until 12 hours ago when you posted identical posts asking for people to tell you where to jump; five minutes after you registered???

    Meh; I call bullshit.

Which locals did you jump with? (I'm local to TF) What is your name? There are jumpers in MT, have you contacted them? What do you consider jumping frequently?

Now I PMed you the coordinates for the Perrine bridge, what else do you want

A license....Why didn't you say so and the few Perrine jumps definitely seals the deal.

Hell, you're one of us now. I like you already. You can come to my house for dinner and f@ck my sister.

Hey speedphreak, great call on the BS, after seeing that I just created an account and never met ya. You got some great character. Start over, this time with less sarcasm. I'm asking for general advice, if you don't have any, don't answer. I'm not here to start online "forum" fights in which I see half this website has. Guido you sound like a great guy too by the way...

Ah, but you weren't asking for general advice, you were asking for specific site advice and locations.

BASE is a small community and we tend to not only look out for one another, but also for those too stupid to look out for themselves. If you come on the scene, totally unknown and out of the blue, like a bull in a china shop asking for people to give you specific places to jump, do you really expect people to just hand you over the keys?

Obviously you don't know enough about BASE and the community (or are too lazy) to know the people to ask or to network your way to the answers you want, and you obviously don't know enough (or are too lazy) to scout the sites yourself. Both of these situations can not only fuck you up, but potentially kill you in the BASE environment.

I'm going to say that with your skydiving "A" license and your smattering of BASE jumps at potato, that you are no where near ready to tackle any "E"'s in Montana.

I'm going to suggest that you slow down a bit there tiger and take things easy. Make some time to read through the information on the various online BASE sites, go back to the potato and make a few more jumps (and more importantly, talk to some of the experienced jumpers that litter the place), make some connections and network from there, maybe find some jumpers in your area, maybe jump some easier stuff in MT. In other words, prepare a little bit more than just random internet posts.

    BASE isn't a race, it's a journey, don't shortcut it. =:>
