[top]Regular (Daytime) BASE #454

BASE #454 off Potato Bridge
BASE #454 off Potato Bridge
Just to state ahead of time, if you get all your base jumps at night, you qualify for a regular (daytime) BASE number, as well as a NIGHT BASE Number. That is what I happened to me. I actually had a very difficult time finding daytime jumps when I got my number.

My Objects where (in order):
  • Span: Green Giant Bridge where I actually learned to jump.
  • Antenna: Kind-of cheated, as my first antenna was a 2,000' tower with an elevator. Never had to climb my first tower.
  • Earth: My first cliff was actually a very low rock quarry. This was also my first Pilot chute Assist jump.
  • Building: On a fateful Blue Moon night, with small suitcase in hand (filled with a rig, helmet and pads), I entered a 42 story Hotel, up the service elevator, then out the fire escape.... Ground crew consisted of 8 friends on the ground. This was an amazing effort of coordination and when off without a hitch. Total time was around 5-7 minutes. Qualified on June 30th 1996...

[top]Night BASE #93

As stated about my regular BASE number, I had qualified for all 4 Object at night first, before I ever did my first day time jump. Qualified on June 30th 1996...

[top]Naked BASE #12

I love this one.... This jump was quite fun as most of the jumps where interesting.

Here where my jumps (in order):
  • Span: The jolly green giant was my first naked jump. Full moon of coarse ;)
  • Earth: I was at the Tombstone Challenge my first year to get my naked earth.
  • Building: My building was AWESOME!!!!!! NYE Weekend 2000/2001 was my fateful day on a building that was under construction. I actually left my clothes behind on the ledge in the shape of a person running off the edge. (I crack myself up all the time... ;-) )
  • Antenna: Well, my tower was a Power Tower. Rather short 350' one at that. You had to take a solid 1 second delay to ensure you cleared the wires. Just felt, well... NAKED with way too much voltage going through the air. Pucker factor was high due to the lack of.. well.... protection...
