just trolling. seems like a wingsuit off of El Cap would be a blast. freefall to the meadow, then open and land, and getaway.

What about a wing suit from Half Dome ? I wonder if you could out track the talus and pull over the middle of the valley ? I am very intrigued by this one. Is anyone else ? The weather will be good for Yosemite soon. Perhaps the Indian ranger wants to play some more after sitting on his fat butt all Winter. I have not forgotten him. Is he still lurking in the bed of the vile ones ? Soon the fox will provide new entertainment for the hunters but their table will remain barren. And so shall it be in the Spring time in the valley. Get ready ranger boys. It's almost time to play again. This will be a very fun year for us all. Prepare !

You MUST listen to what I got on my answering machine last week. I applied for a permit to jump El Cap or 1/2 Dome. They denied my permit on the answering machine, with a twist. Check it out:

EVERYONE should apply for a permit. Maybe someday they'll say "what the hell".....send your request to:

Fox,

I'm not trying to bust your balls here, but why do we have to post about upcoming jumps in the valley?

I know that the sly will get away with it - and from your posts, I imagine that you may be the stealthiest jumper around...but there are others that jump in the valley. Is there really a need to tease the rangers in the public eye? Do you want to make them even more vigilant? Do you want it to be even harder to jump?

If you would like more of a challenge, tell them the day that you are going to jump...but be sure and post here too so I can stay away and stay out of your fox and hound game.

I like to jump in absolute stealth. That means that I don't have to flaunt it to the rangers. They simply never know that I was even there...

PS - Attention all rangers...the valley isn't jumpable until June...so need to even worry!

That was definitely a funny message.
" And if you think you can get away with it..."
That is like saying, "if you feel one parachute is enough, and that it will open on heading and you can land safely, come to our playground."
oh yeah, and "just remember to pull that cord"
what cord was he referring to? I haven't packed a cord since student training days in an airplane.
The only cool thing that ranger forgot to say was
"and if you guys are crazy enough to do something like that, I don't feel safe chasing you or arresting you. I would probably just hide and pretend not to notice."
Of course that would be like saying you got your permit.

I must assume from your post that you are unfamiliar with the way politics works in this country. While there are those that attempt to negotiate with a government that has proven to be in the habit of refusing negotiation, there are those of us who have realized that sheer embarrassment can have an even greater effect on those who perceive themselves as being all-powerful and invincible. Therefore, it is imperative that we rub the National Park Service's face in the crap they have created at every possible opportunity. One of the most powerful forces in changing ridiculous and unenforceable regulations is in exposing their stupidity and weaknesses. The media reads this board as well as the National Park Service. And I, for one, want them to know that hundreds of man hours and thousands of dollars of the taxpayers money is being spent chasing Base jumpers who can not be caught over hill and dale in our National Parks and on occasion, chasing them to their deaths. In fact, I would wager that more money is spent in failed attempts to catch us than on all those rescues that they are constantly complaining about and using as their excuse for not issuing permits for Base jumping. I also feel that it important to continue to pressure the National Park Service by jumping in the parks and evading capture as much as possible. We obviously can't reason with them. They do not respond to diplomacy. So I will continue to jump freely in the parks and to let everyone know that the present law enforcement staff is a joke. It's time congress cut their budget even more and reduced their staff even more if they can't even catch a Base jumper. God help us if anyone commits a real crime in the parks like feeding a squirrel. And you are very wrong about the snow and the Winter season being a deterrent to Base jumping. In fact, it makes it easier to access several sites, easier to see at night and allows use of many alternate landing areas that can not normally be used. The law enforcement staff is considerably smaller in Winter. And it is important to note that the rangers are lazy, poorly trained pussies who do not handle adverse conditions very well. Harsh environmental conditions favor the prepared Base jumper, especially The Fox.

Fox,
you are an idiot.
Why don't you grow up a little. You don't fight battles by calling your adversary names like pussies, etc. Didn't you learn that in 2nd grade.

Yes it is good to expose the stupidty of the Park Service regulations, but the only way to do it is in a professional way. Calling names and publicly challenging rangers is only making us look like pissed off little kids. The only way we are going to win this battle is to expose them, but maintain our maturity and professionalism.

Also I have been jumping in the valley for almost 10 years now and am happy to say that very few people know about my jumps and my future intentions there. Why in the world do you have to mouth off about jumping there??? You sound like some stupid pro wrestler.

You know Bob, you're right. I will revert to the selfishness of my solo, night jumps and my secret projects in the National Parks. That has always been best for ME - ME - ME. I guess that is where you are coming from. However, the absence of bold, public challenges to government policy does not help the "cause" of eventual legal jumps in the parks. Our silence is what they want. To be totally honest with you, I wish every jumper would simply develop the skills to jump alone and at night and give up on the ridiculous idea that the government will ever cooperate with us any more than they cooperate with anyone who wants to be free in this country. The direction of this oppressive government is already set in steel. So why fight to change it? It's unfortunate that people like you do not appreciate the perpetual youth and spirit of The Fox. You have no vision. Therefore, I will not post here again.

Good luck - The Fox

jumping from both of these sites is FABULOUS - especially with the wingsuit! He He - Ha Ha... The FOX has some good points about public policy in OUR parks, I like the rangers to think we outsmart them - now that's funny! Rangers are just like cops - studpid idiots fighting the battles of policy formulators - they have no lives or purpose, so they need to uphold and enforce the ideas and beliefs of others - those who have made the mistake of formulating bad policy. What a waste of resources. What is the opportunity cost amount to? how many countless man hours and how much taxpayers money is lost? Can we get a figure?

Who has ties with a congressman or a lobbyist? Get to work! Whoever you are... How do you think the Rangers will treat us, when eventually, we are legally jumping in OUR parks?

I will continue to jump unnoticed in all national parks - year round, because, like the FOX, I believe we need to show the world that we will jump irregardless of rediculous policy in our parks. This will show our undampened spirit and our dedication to jumping some of the best rocks in the world whether faced with jail time, fines or gear confiscations.

We should, as others have suggested in the past, pull off the 100 man effort - not the 5 man effort where one flails and dies before the eyes of the world (no hard feelings). Wouldn't it be funny if we all escaped the mindless rangers? Makes me laugh just thinking about it. Who will organize this effort? Someone with experience and a successful history of organizing social movements. I can't wait to get on that load...

This is exactly the sort of attitude which will prevent us from gaining freedom in the National Parks.
