BASE jumping is a highly dangerous sport that can severely injure and kill participants. It may kill you. The moderators of BLiNC do not recommend BASE jumping to anybody!

Read the BASE fatality list and the Fatality Statistics page and think long and hard before making a BASE jump.

@see Wiki category Problems to learn about how to handle issues that can occur while BASE Jumping.

Speaking of that, there was a jumper that lost BOTH his shoes after a head down exit, then HARD opening...

Would you imagine that the stitching on the bridle created enough pull force to initiate extraction -or- was this some how planned?

I know the pc pop off guy. He said he did not rig the pc correctly. The scary part is it was not even larks headed to the load tapes alone, or the center line alone. ie no damage to either area of the pc. I did not get to inspect the gear, so this is second hand from him. He has several base jumps, but was not current. I wish I would have asked him to look at the gear myself. Oh yeah, it was his birthday. So his present was life!

Can someone email me the name of the jumper? I want to see if he re-rigged his PC after we checked his gear. Bad PCs never get by our gear checkers (Moe Viletto and Bubba).
