    Getting Soft

I'm no longer hard like I used to be. It's a simple fact of getting old. I don't take the chances I used to, and I don't go explore new sights. Hell, I even make excuses not to jump some days. And it's always the same object, a simple, safe, and legal bridge. If I was hard core, I'd be jumping the walls around, and the other sites around the country. I'd travel for BASE jumps. I'm so soft, I can't even skip work to go BASE jumping. I must be getting old. Maybe I should retire?
Does anybody else ever feel like they are "growing out of" this sport?

maybe I'm just getting to old for this.

I don't understand why people get softer with age.
I mean, the older you are the less you got to lose right?
It should be the other way around.

I'll be 45 this year and I still tend to go full tilt; maybe not as hardcore as someone half my age, but definately much more than just about everybody around me that's my age...

I'm in it for the long haul though, I've seen a bunch of people get into the sport, go balls to the walls for a year or two, then fade away.

It's not about getting soft, it's about being bored with one activity once you've mastered. Pick up another activity/hobby, something it was always in your back burner. I used to extreme ski and climb a lot in my youth, not any more. Then racing cars and motorcycles...now I just ride for leisure and transportation. Then jumping out of airplanes and things and even tho I stay current, I do not jump as much as I used to. I feel actually stronger now than ever before but the only thing that would excite me now would be to do much more flying, going to space, to the Moon, and possibly Mars, other than that, everything seems pretty flat and stale.
